Counter-Strike is an old title with many versions still being actively played today. Fans think the game is perfect as it is. The 'wild' change that Counter-Strike 2 and the new engine brought made many players upset because it shook up the status quo. I can understand feeling upset that 2 replaced GO, 2 should've been another title instead of a rework, It still seems like a knee-jerk reaction to a 'sudden' change.
