The New Year of 2025 feels like a fresh start, a time to reflect on the past while embracing the future with hope and faith. For my entry in Vibes Web3 Music Competition Week 27, I chose to perform a cover of the beloved hymn “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Else.” This hymn, also known as "The Solid Rock," has been a timeless reminder of steadfast faith in Christ, and I found it fitting to share this powerful message as we usher in a new year.
Why This Hymn?

Choosing this hymn for the competition allowed me to express my faith and share its timeless truth with a broader audience in the Web3 space.

For this cover, I aimed to bring a fresh yet reverent interpretation to the hymn. With my background in music as a saxophone major and piano minor, I incorporated melodic instrumentation alongside my vocal performance to enhance the overall presentation. My intention was to create a reflective atmosphere, one that invites listeners to meditate on the words while feeling uplifted and inspired.
The arrangement balanced simplicity and depth, focusing on the hymn's core message. I paid attention to dynamics and phrasing, ensuring each word carried its intended emotion. It was essential to me that the performance was heartfelt, connecting with the audience spiritually and emotionally.

The Vibes Web3 Music Competition has been an incredible platform for musicians like me to share our artistry with a global audience. This community fosters creativity, collaboration, and appreciation for music. Sharing my cover of “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Else” felt like a meaningful contribution to this vibrant space, especially at the dawn of a new year.
