We are Dúo Larix, a project born in Santiago de Cuba with the desire to share music that unites roots, faith, and passion. Today we want to bring you our interpretation of Guataca City, a vibrant work by maestro Paquito D'Rivera, which blends the best of jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms.

It is an honor for us to be part of this creative family that supports artists and celebrates music in all its forms.

We immerse ourselves in the vibrant fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms and urban jazz with this interpretation of "Guataca City" by maestro Paquito D'Rivera, originally included on the album Manhattan Burn (1987).

Guataca City transports us to a world where Afro-Cuban tradition—represented by the guataca, a distinctive metal percussion instrument—blends with the soundscapes of the big city, creating a bridge between the rural and the cosmopolitan.

With this version, we want to pay tribute to his legacy, lovingly and freshly reinterpreting a work that continues to inspire generations.

Guataca City nos transporta a un universo donde la tradición afrocubana —representada por la guataca, un peculiar instrumento de percusión metálico— se mezcla con los paisajes sonoros de la gran ciudad, creando un puente entre lo rural y lo cosmopolita
