My Review on the Top 6 Performances from Vibes Web3 Music Competition Week 41 (September 13th – September 23rd, 2025)

in Vibes3 months ago

What an electrifying close to week 41 in the Vibes Web3 Music Competition on Hive! There were a lot of amazing entries, a lot of which definitely deserve to be in the top but as we all know, everyone is a winner, yet not everyone can be in top 6 quite unfortunately.

Today, I'm unpacking my top 6 favorite performances from the winners' podium—each a snapshot of Web3's unfiltered innovation: collaborative, boundary-breaking, and built to resonate. These aren't mere submissions; they're anthems forged in the fire of community support. Let's crank it up, starting with gold.

1st Place: @thonykx01
Entry: Building the Church - Steve Vai | ENG & ESP
Link:

Now this is one of those entries that just amazes me. Words alone can't express how marveled i was when i started watching and suddenly got electrified by the fast-paced guitar melodies @thonykx01 was playing. Then i dived deeper to realize that it was one of his favorite songs that inspired him to play the guitar. No wonder he won first place, the music, the story, it all speaks for itself! Well deserved!!!

2nd Place: @benriffs
Entry: Malaika (An Original)
Link:

This submission talks about a barren woman who yearns to have a child of her own, tries many ways to make it happen but eventually grew old n tired only to finally conceive, and truly realize that it is God alone who gives children and His time is always the best! The title, Malaika, is a Yoruba word that means "Angel". Such amazing work from @benriffs keep it up man!

3rd Place: @sleemfit
Entry: Insecure (An Original)
Link:

With a blend of soothing melodies and the richness in local (pidgin English) tongue, @sleemfit made something sweet but bitter, letting us know the harsh reality of people who may only want to be with you for their personal reasons, not genuinely because they want to see you at your best, and how that makes one insecure moving forward. What can i say, he definitely delivered the message. Good one there!

4th Place: @tahram
Entry: MI the guy (Cover)
Link:

This entry is a very vibrant one with the rap and vibes, reminding everyone that he is "the guy". Love the energy n flows. Good work man, keep it up!

5th Place: @cenakeys
Entry: Song Cover for your glory by Tasha Cobbs
Link:

This is a very touching entry, against all odds, with all glory to God for life. @cenakeys had an accident recently and still managed to submit an entry for the week, in good faith and while i may not know him personally, i pray for speedy recovery. Keep up the good work!

6th Place: @davybustamante0
Entry: "Prelude in C# minor" Op.3 No.2 - S. Rachmaninoff
Link:

This is a very charming piano performance, giving you another perspective to understanding music that even without lyrics can tell so much.
‎"May the music live forever!", As @davybustamante0 would say. Good job man, you did great!

In summary, Week 41's podium was one to remember, empowering creators with real stakes, from cash pools exceeding $500 (upvotes included) to global exposure via Discord and X Spaces. Big ups to judges @verbal
-d and @silentscreamer
for their eagle-eyed curation, and to the community for voting with heart—your input tipped the scales! What a week it was, and now im bubbling up with excitement as we head into Week 42.

Thanks a lot, my friend!!!

Anytime fam, keep up the good music!

Thanks for the mention 😊... I'm glad you resonated with my original, I'm grateful for your kind words 🙏.

Anytime fam, just gave my honest opinion. Keep up the good music n vibes, look forward to seeing more dope stuff!

I really appreciate your kind words and the time you took to listen to this performance. I must say it was intentional: I wanted to make the best possible impression. Those who know Steve Vai often refer to him as a musical virtuoso. I don't consider myself a virtuoso, but I did try hard to learn and play this live in one take, but it was a lot of trying. Thanks for the mention!

Youre welcome fam! Your entry amazed me frfr... though i dont know much about Steve Vai but the fast paced stringing took me off guard. Keep it up man!
