Best Room Swap So Far - Office With The Best View!

Best view of the house

From the moment we moved in to this apartment, our daughter had the best view of the house. Not only does she have a balcony in front of her windows, she had the room with the best view compared to all the other rooms. In fact, the view is so stunning that when the cats lay in the sink in the bathroom across this room, they can still enjoy this ocean view outside. I noticed that a few months ago while brushing my teeth and for once actually looking in the mirror to see the view behind me. It's weird how you don't instantly notice these cool things when you're used to something you see every day.

Happy with her room

Her room was the smallest but in my opinion it would work best in terms of having a bed and desk and her other toys. I could easily see how this would fit perfectly and she'd still have enough space to play. When joked a few times since we moved in that we'd swap rooms and even when I said you can have the biggest room, she said no, lol. I guess she was content. What's not to love when you finally have your own space after years of sharing it, right? I was happy that we were finally able to give her that, as it's been hard finding any rental with 3 bedroom in the past years.

My office space

As there are huge shelves in the last bedroom in the house, I figured this would make the perfect office space for me so that I can place our folders with administration there, high up the wall, without being bothered by the cats jumping in between and things getting damaged. This was great thinking and worked well. Sadly, in winter that room is too cold to work in all day due to a leak in the building, which is causing the built-in wardrobe to have water damage and the worst thing is that the community is not fixing it due to lack of funds. The issue comes from up higher and all affected apartments have to just deal with it.

I put moist eaters inside and took out all of the clothes to only leave closed boxes in there, hoping they'd not be damaged, sadly, it saves us a lot of useful closet space. Yet, I can see how making a fuzz won't do anything because our landlord knows very well that her apartment is taking a hit and would love nothing more than for it to be repaired. This year, I already put the moist eaters there even throughout summer, and will heat up the room every day with the closet doors open, hoping that it will not be as bad this winter as last year.

Throughout summer the room was fine in the mornings and nights but the afternoons were horrible because of the heat because the sun shining on that window directly. So working is not ideal in the hot summer months or the colder winter months. When I was working there, I just put a warmer jogger on, sometimes a blanket on top and dealt with it, but ideally this room is mostly used by someone who is not that much affected by cold and hot temperatures, yes, I mean the little one.

Room swap is best

I think she's almost turning into a real Spanish girl because the amount of days that I had to open her bedroom window for her to get in some fresh air, as she was not complaining about the heat inside, is insane. I wondered how she could even sleep like this, lol. We realised that she is better off in the backroom because she has this little thing where she (even in the hot summer) has to perfectly fit her sheet/blanket around the bed, so she's all tucked in tightly. She always wants very hot blankets in winter and never complains that she's cold, like how we wake up with sore joints from the cold, as we're getting old, haha.

I proposed to her what she'd think because it would mean a bigger room, much more space but we would have to keep at least one side of the built-in wardrobe as empty as can be so I can mange the water damage through winter better. She didn't mind as I told her that the wardrobe in the smaller room can still be functional for her clothes and some other stuff anyway. Then I proposed it to my boyfriend, who's very hands-on and made the swap reality the next day. Our Saturday afternoon was about swapping the furniture around and having to find the perfect setting for all the stuff we had. I think we managed quite well.

Loving the view

Every time that I enter my new office space, I look out of the window and feel extremely grateful that I can now work here with this amazing view. Not all is great though, I already learned that a few hours of the day the light coming through the window is quite sharp and therefore it's hard to focus on the screens in front of the window, so I may move around my desk later to be most productive. It will also keep my two cat ladies from jumping through the window from my desk, causing my screens to move or worse. Sometimes you have to experience it before you can decide what's best, right?

Happy kid

Our daughter is extremely happy and grateful for her upgraded room and I'm happy that I now only have to heat up the gas heater for a few hours a day max to make sure she's comfortable, compared to me working there all day and not be comfortable at all. Now that my back pain belongs to the past, I don't want cold to be the trigger of being in pain and therefore I'm very happy we all agreed this was the best thing to do. Although she slept a bit bad the first night, as her bed is facing another direction now, and she had some light annoying her, the second night she already slept like a baby. Just in time because a week from tomorrow school starts again, best to be rested well.

Decoration

All that's left now is for my boyfriend to check the walls to see where we can attach some wall shelves for me because I really can't do without them for our administration and I want to empty the shelves in my daughter's new room so we can place boxes with toys up there instead. But we're usually facing issue with bad walls when drilling holes etc, I'm hoping we can still fix it somehow though and otherwise I would need an extra cabinet to store them instead. Some decoration on the wall is absolutely needed as well so after I figure out the final setting of the furniture, we will give that some thoughts.

Such a big change

It's amazing how you can change up a place this much by just moving some furniture around, isn't it? The biggest room space is now used much better than it was, which is great but now that we turned this smaller room into my office, the room suddenly feels so much bigger and lighter. It's a huge upgrade this way.

This bed is suddenly useful again now that I placed it under the table where I have my printer set up, a win-win!

Another advantage of this new setting is that the cat bed that was mostly being space consuming without being used in the living room, is now used again every day. The cats hang out either with me in the office, the bathroom sink or the kid's room during the day. That is until they come to life at night, lol.

From the home office with the best view, I'm wishing you the best weekend ahead!

That's a great view! Reminds me of my view in Puerto Rico in one place I lived. Glad things have worked out well and the little one is happy. The cats like their cat naps and to paly all night! lol

Those aches and pains don't get better with age sadly. I'm still waiting for the pill to make me 30 years younger, but I'll even take 10!

Yes during the day they are sleepy heads for sure..

That would be a fantastic pill, wouldn't it? :)
