It looks gross, it smells gross, but it makes magic. I use a tablespoon or so of liquid liver of sulfur per small 8-oz crock pot (heat the water up to warm). The best technique is to submerge the coin for a minute or less and then remove it, and then rinse it immediately in clean water.

No rust color. The pictures don't do it justice it's a fairly golden looking tone with bits of purple, I do like a uniform finish and I more or less got that minus the bit of the purple bits but still love how it turned out could have done a better job with the polish maybe used something less abrasive removing some of the tone !DOOK
