The Cost of Constant Busyness in a Distracted World

in FreeCompliments5 days ago

In today's fast-paced life, we almost forget everything. We forget to be with ourselves, to spend time with ourselves, or to be with our friends or loved ones, to spend time with them, or to party with them. We forget all of this. We're always glued to our phones, but we often forget to be present with ourselves and our loved ones because we think that if we don't work, or if we don't work at this particular time, our lives will be ruined. But is that true? Absolutely not. Because if you don't live each day to the fullest, who knows, your future days might also be terrible. Or if you don't spend time with your friends, what's the point of earning money? That's why you should always maintain a balance.

Work is very important; it's not a useless thing. Work is crucial, but spending time with yourself and your friends is equally important. We often fear being alone; we think we'll start overthinking, negative thoughts will begin, and we'll feel strange. That's why we want to be busy all the time. But sometimes, being alone and talking to yourself, having a conversation with your inner self, and spending some time in solitude is actually a form of self-connection, and it's the simplest and purest thing. Because talking to yourself is important. It can improve the quality of your life. In today's world, it seems we've forgotten how to talk to ourselves and spend some time alone.

In the past, we used to do this a lot because we had more time to talk to ourselves, to understand our inner thoughts, and to figure out what's important in life and what we need to do. But today, it seems we've completely forgotten how to do this. These days, if you say, "I'm free," people look at you like you're not serious about your life. Now, you might think that if you're busy or always working, you've become someone important, and you feel a sense of accomplishment, and people say, "He doesn't have time; he's so busy."

But honestly, do we really feel that being busy is the easiest and best thing for ourselves? We pick up the phone, scroll through social media, and finish one video, then another, constantly trying to fill our time, but our minds get overwhelmed, and in the rush of being busy, we stop listening to ourselves. That's why it's so important to sometimes take a little time for yourself, like doing 10 minutes of meditation in the morning. Calm your mind, which is like exercising your mind. Exercising the mind is very important because we rely so much on our minds. If the most valuable thing in our body, our mind, goes wrong, then our whole life will go wrong.

Spending time alone has many benefits, such as calming your mind. We often fill our minds with unnecessary thoughts and worries that overload us and that we don't really need. We're constantly taking in information, so it's crucial for our minds to rest. You begin to understand yourself better. When you're alone or talking to yourself, you realize who you've become and who you were meant to be. Many people have different dreams, but due to societal pressure, they suppress their true desires and become someone they never wanted to be. Emotional resilience is built. People who can be comfortable in their own company can handle even the toughest phases of life, and this increases your emotional strength. You don't need constant validation from friends or others. You enjoy yourself and your own company.

Most importantly, learn to control your emotions. We often say things in situations where we later realize we've said too much, and we end up looking foolish or becoming the butt of jokes. You should never go to places where you're not respected. Being the subject of lighthearted teasing is one thing, but being made a fool of or presented as a clown is something else entirely. So, avoid people and places where you're constantly mocked or targeted. These are often the kinds of people who always want to show off their power and skills and make you feel inferior. So, drastically reduce your visits to such places because you won't find respect there, and those places will only take you further away from your inner peace.

Finally, I'll just say that your notifications aren't the only thing outside of your phone and work, and that world is within you. Always prioritize yourself and your inner peace. Put your inner peace first because that's what will guide your life in the right direction. Keep your mind calm. Always listen to your own intuition and never listen to others. Listen only if someone says something truly helpful, not if they say you're wrong or your decision is incorrect. If you feel it's right, then it is right. Don't live according to others' expectations; live according to your own, because it's your life. You have to live it your way. Don't live according to what others expect, because if you have expectations of others and they're not met, you'll be the one who feels bad. So, have expectations of yourself. Learn to pause, learn to be quiet, and learn to be with yourself, because when you're comfortable being with yourself, it becomes easier to be with the world.
