It was the first time that my friend and I went to the gym in the evening. We started at 7pm and ended at almost 9pm. She (Yeah just her! Haha!) usually craves for food after all the sweat she released. As I usually just take a hitch with her, I agree wherever she wants to go first before heading home. We tried dropping by a Chinese fast-food restaurant, but upon seeing it offers mostly pork, we had to leave.
Driving around, we finally saw Angel’s Pizza along Claveria Street in Davao City. I am familiar with Angel’s Pizza because of my daughter. She usually orders their pizza for delivery because of their buy 1 take 1 offer forever or double deal!
The restaurant looks attractive because of its bright lights inside and outside. Their interior was something unique too. The walls and ceilings were very colorful. The ceiling was extraordinary for a fast-food chain. It is designed with grills and too many spotlights. On the walls, you will see photos of their pizzas and endorsers made with a wooden frame.
I was excited to eat inside and see what other food they have on their menu. Believing Angel’s Pizza was owned by an ordinary Filipino family that has just grown, I was surprised to see several pizza flavors which I never saw from famous and internationally franchised pizza chains. Their prices are reasonable, I said to myself.
A typical Filipino especially high school and college students would like their “SANA OL” Bundles. Sana Ol or Sana All literally means “I wish all” or “I hope all”. It has become a Filipino slang which means “I hope everyone could have that” or “I wish everyone could have that too”. Their Sana Ol Bundles include Sana Ol Pamilya Bundle, Sana Ol Barkada Bundle and Sana Ol Jowa Bundle. In Filipino, pamilya means family; barkada refers to a group of friends; and jowa means partner in gay language. Fun bundles, aren’t they?
So, moving on, we ordered a medium-sized creamy spinach pizza, solo cheesy lasagna and a pitcher of cucumber lemonade. Our bill was Php 655.
The pizza came first, and I know there was no doubt about how good it is because I have tried it several times via delivery. It serves 6 slices of pizza which for me justified the price of Php 395 because of its good taste. My friend did not like it much. She found it oily.
The lasagna and drink came next. The lasagna looked good, but when we tasted it, we both agreed that it was commercially made. Meaning, the ingredients were budgeted. No personal touch to the food; it is just really for profit. Haha! By the look of the cucumber lemonade, we already knew it was not freshly made. We knew it was powdered juice. Fine. What else can we do but eat and drink what was on the table. After all, she was hungry! Hahaha!
She finished her 3 slices while I just finished 1. So, I took my leftovers home. I like their food box for pizza take-out…not a typical box!
While we were eating, there were a lot of young ones who kept arriving. Well, for one, it is strategically located. It is near Ateneo de Davao University, the most reputable university in the city with children from well-to-do families and call centers. As you know, call centers operate 24/7. Angel’s Pizza Restaurant is open until 2am. No other fast food is one until that time along Claveria so call center agents are already a sure market for them.
On a scale of 10, we rate Angel’s Pizza’s Menu with 7. We do not plan to go back there anymore for some snacks.
