A patient visited me in my chamber yesterday. According to the documents (Passport and Omani ID card), his age is 35 years. However, originally, he was 30! Yes. It's quite a common picture here. They either increase or decrease their age according to their need while making their passports!

He had a known case of allergic rhinitis, sneezing, running nose, nasal polyp, etc. He quite frequently takes steroid injections to keep his allergy under control. He visited me around 3 years before once and took the injection. Later, he took several shots from other clinics over the last 3 years. But, that's not the topic of discussion today.

When I checked his blood pressure, I found it was 190/120 mmHg. It's a very high blood pressure. When I told him his BP, he looked unbothered! He told me that the previous doctors informed him about his consistently high blood pressure. He never agreed to start a hypertension medication! Judging from his attitude, it appeared to me that he had no idea about this silent killer. He was not having any problem with this high BP (quite surprising as well). Hence, he was not ready to start a medicine.

I gave a good 5-minute (almost) lecture on why he should start taking medicines to lower his blood pressure. Finally, I succeeded. I prescribed a medicine and asked him to come for a follow-up. I will see if he adheres to it or not!
