Wow, that is pretty impressive. It makes sense though if you consider the way the copper and other ore veins were created in the earths crust. What is the melting point of gold though? You would think it would vaporize or something due to the heat.

It must be a really rich gold mine essentially that part gets blasted out with each eruption. I'm not sure just an eruption alone would be hot enough to melt gold much in the period of time it's shot into the air, but it may do it enough to allow it to rain down gold dust? Interesting to speculate the mechanism, I just wish my backyard had that much gold!
