As others have said, I’d be happy to delegate HP to help support the group. The biggest problem that I think you’ll face is onboarding new users.
How can you convince new people to join?
I think most people who are still active today will say that they heard from a friend that the their friend was blogging and making money (or earning crypto and selling it to buy BTC) and joined. Then, once they got their first big vote ($30 or more), they became hooked.
I think those votes are harder and harder to get these days without a big delegation supporting a community.
I wonder if using a separate frontend like Liketu or something with video support wouldn’t be a better way to attract Japanese users.
Delegation is a very appreciated idea🙏 I was thinking of supporting community posts on Ecency Point or HSBI, but I will also discuss with the community members how best to do this.
Yes, I agree that onboarding is the biggest challenge... We didn't have a place to bring people in, so I decided to create one first. Liketu is good for Japanese because it is photo-based and easy to post. I am also considering introducing the communities where Japanese members have posted and earned rewards. And there are many Splinterlands players in Japan, so I am thinking of approaching them .
$30... I understand well. Most of the Japanese members left on Hive now are users from the early days of Steemit, who are learning that they can get paid from this platform. New users need to experience success, too.
There was once a big delegation from Ned to the Japanese community, but I think I remember that not working out very well for some reason.
Delegations are helpful, but they also lead to problems because people tend to misuse them. In the old days, they often were used for self-voting in various niches.
I know exactly what you mean. I think the old Japanese community was the same way. Regardless of the content of the posts, the voting % for each account seemed to be fixed and I often saw complaints from members. I have learned that the managing members are entitled to their compensation, but it has to be in a way that is acceptable to the community members.
Well, I guess it's hard for a new community to have such a big HP, but in any case I need to be careful not to let my greed get the better of me.
Delegating is a good idea. I will be happy to do as well. If we can get enough of the current Japan community to delegate then we can offer at least a decent guaranteed upvote. That could help to attract people. I guess appealing to greed is not really the best solution for onboarding people, but at least it is something we could offer.
One of the problems many people seem to have is they see other people consistently being rewarded more than they are and they feel like they are being cheated and/or wasting their time. It’s an age-old problem around here by now.
Having consistent worthwhile engagement is enough to keep people around, but that’s almost as hard to get as those elusive upvotes. 😞
Educating people that this could be a worthwhile use of time, ore so than other social media platforms is the best idea, but most people don’t have the attention span to make it through all the explanations.
Honestly, the biggest problem is that everyone’s friends aren’t here.
This place is like walking into a big party where you don’t know anyone and trying to make friends for life. It doesn’t seem worth the time and effort to most people.
