I shared a few beach photos from around New Zealand in a post the other day. All of the photos were taken over the course of a month in the NZ summer. However, they were only some of my favourite photos amongst hundreds, if not thousands, of beach shots. As such, I wanted to share a few more photos from one evening of shooting today.
This first photo is the one that I included in the original post. It's by far my favourite simply because of its vastness. I also love the textures in the sand, they really add detail to what would've otherwise been a boring foreground.
The second photo was taken from the cliffs above the beach. As you can probably tell, it was taken a bit earlier before the sun went further down. I struggled a lot when it came to editing these images because of the incredible contrast between the sun and the shadowed foreground.
I don't know what the previous visitors had been trying to draw in the sand... Or even if it was a motorbike. Either way, something made an impression on the beach! It would certainly be a fun place to ride a motorbike because of the vast expanse of sand!
The final shot is another image from the top of the cliff. This particular image shows the shadows cast by the islands in the evening. It's amazing how fast those parts of the beach can go from sunny and warm to dark and... Well, freezing.
These shots are definitely not images that I consider great, but I thought it would be fun to share a few that I haven't before. Often I will take hundreds of photos before getting one that I truly like, and 99% of these images are never seen by anyone but me. I hope to begin to change that :)
