I think the next HF will likely come near the end of February, but there's no set date yet.

When we looked into SMTs, we found the code wasn't nearly complete (despite what had been reported by Steemit). Based on that, we decided it was better to create a more flexible smart-contract system to support token creation instead. We plan to build that in 2022 on top of HAF.
