I love Crossfit!

I'm fairly new to Crossfit. I started last April after my Doctor told me to start exercising every day due to some complications from type 2 diabetes. I failed trying to walk for 30 each day after several false starts so knowing myself, started looking for a class type exercise group I could join. I know if I had a schedule I would stick to it. Due to Covid there wasn't much available but the local Crossfit box had classes. What the heck is Crossfit I thought! I watched a few videos online and got a basic idea of what it was. Seemed a bit more strenuous than I wanted at 63 but the offered a free introductory tour so I decided why not.
I scheduled an appointment to meet with the owner and head coach, Russell. He was very thorough in finding out what my level of fitness was (non existent) and what my goals were. I decided to go ahead and do the 5 introductory classes that one needs to do to start working out in a class. Wow! was I in bad shape! Everything was hard! But I liked Russell and his dedication to helping meet my goals and kep with it. Once I finished the intro classes and started going to the classes I was amazed at how welcoming everyone was and how encouraging they were despite my inability to complete workouts and my need to scale everything we did back to a low level. What a great group of people!
As I went along I slowly built up strength and endurance. I learned new skills such as rope climbing, hand stands, burpees and pull ups. I came to be able to finish workouts without feeling like my heart was about to burst out of my chest!
It's been 7 months now. I've lost 25 lbs and put on a good bit of muscle. I'm completely off insulin and rarely have to take oral diabetes meds. Best of all I feel great! I'm able to do things I used to enjoy, but wasn't able to do any longer because of being so deconditioned. Best of all, I've made a new group of friends that I look forward to working out with every day,
