Hello HIVE community and nature lovers, I hope you are doing well today.
I am sharing with you my experience as an instructor in my work as a scout, since it is a movement that fascinates me and I love in all its splendor. For those who do not know the term scout or Boy Scout, it is a group that is responsible for teaching values and teamwork to children and adolescents, bringing them closer to a natural environment, far from the distractions of technology; which for this activity, is a camp that lasted 3 days, which consisted of testing what they have been learning during this season, working with other young people as a team and most importantly, having a lot of fun.
We arrived at the camp and the first thing they had to do was to set up their tents and organize their equipment so they were ready for the next activities; they also built small buildings where they could cook their food, according to the menu they had planned for the camp. Each of the instructors and I helped the patrols that were assigned to them on occasion, but the idea was that they could improvise on the fly any difficulty that they encountered; that's how the first day ended.
As we began the second day of camp, we were greeted by the rays of sunshine, so we had to start preparing breakfast and getting ready for the activities.
Many of the activities had various themes so that they could let their imaginations flow and get into character, allowing for healthy competition between everyone, both adults and children. It was all laughter, which helped me remember my days as a child and going through the same trials, bringing nostalgia to my heart.
Lunch time arrives and the young people must recover the energy they lost in the games and tests. This is how we evaluate the efficiency of their constructions or, as we call them, altar kitchens, since it allows us not to damage the land with the bonfires, helping to preserve nature; as our motto says, to leave the place better than how we found it.
But adults also have their moments to share, just like fellow scouts. And what better way to do it than with a delicious dinner prepared by us.
After everyone has had dinner, for our last night we have a tradition, which is to gather around a big bonfire, while the children perform acts or dramatizations, to complement the union of everyone. And to end the evening, we all sing together saying goodbye to the day.
It was really rewarding to be back in nature and share with the boys at this camp, to see their faces full of joy and obviously they all managed to successfully pass their tests. I feel proud to be part of this beautiful movement in my country Venezuela and to help these young people become good people, with the tools that they have given me and that they will now have.
Thank you for reading this post, I hope you support me for future experiences.
