Why saw blades don't belong on your knife spine:
That spine should be square and strong for batoning or striking flint for fire, not all jaggedy and liable to make you bleed in a bad situation.
Saws are thin for good reason. Knife blades are thick for good reason. Fat saw blades just don't saw well. It's why I don't even recommend a Gerber Gator machete.
I'd also add that a guard or hilt shape that keeps your fingies off the slicy bit is important!
My 2¢, anyhow. Get a good, basic knife that does good basic knife things well.
