Colorado National Monument - Overdose of Canyons Anyone?

I recently made a post about the Devil's Kitchen hike which was quite an amazing trail. This trail was part of the Rim Rock Drive in western Colorado. In this post, we are going to do the remainder of 23 miles long Rim Rock Drive which includes an insane amount of different canyons and overlooks. This road has also an overlook of the Colorado National Monument.

At first, we didn't even plan on driving this Rim Rock Drive but I reconsidered and skipped two other locations we planned to visit in Colorado. I wish we had more time to visit these too but we only had a week. I don't regret the change in locations because visiting the Rim Rock drive was extremely spectacular. I might not get all the names of all the canyons right because there were so many but I'll try!

The winding and twisty road is also one of a kind, full of really cool sights like this...

This seems to be an unnamed canyon.

Cold Shivers overlook. Columbus Canyon in the background. I would advise again going to where I went, not the safest place to stand but I tend to be a bit of a daredevil sometimes.

That should be a Red Canyon overlook if I'm not mistaken. There are a ton of viewpoints everywhere, I'm trying to use the map to the best of my abilities to pinpoint the exact spots I was in.

Just a cool plant in the area that deserved to have a photo taken of. There were a lot more interesting plants but it would have taken a ton of time to start taking photos of everything.

This is the Ute Canyon view.

Fallen Rock overlooks. You can see the huge rock or part of the wall that has broken off, hence the name Fallen Rock.

Highland View, here you can see the mountainous landscape at the far back.

If I'm not mistaken then the following area as a whole is a Colorado National Monument. There are so many viewpoints that it makes my head spin and I'm not entirely sure which ones I did visit. I believe this one here is a Grand View. It's also called a Monument Canyon for obvious reasons when you see stuff like this, it is amazing.

I have to mention that the lighting was also really cool at the time to get some cool-looking shots.

The formation you see in the middle there is an Independence Monument.

Fruita Canyon view. What a scenic road it was to drive on.

That was pretty much the end point of the Rim Road Drive. We made it to the end at the right time because some storm clouds started to appear and the wind picked up greatly.

That was such a cool experience driving there, and seeing all these amazing canyons and overlooks. If you ever visit Colorado, it's a must-visit location for sure, this place deserves a look in person. Again my photos won't do the full justice here. In fact, there are many more overlooks that I didn't have time to stop at. If you go there then plan a full day visit if you want to see everything. I think we spent about 4 hours on this 23-mile-long drive.

It is very nice to go to such a beautiful place and see the mountains and climb them. Seeing the natural scenery makes one's heart very happy and the life of a person is going on in troubles these days. A must visit place.

the view is extraordinary, you can see all the valley from the air.👍

Yeah, extremely spectacular sight and great lighting.

I noticed the color of the rocks and the beautiful blue sky, a very beautiful combination of colors and shades. The scale of these canyons is also impressive; it seems to me that you can easily get lost there, the territory is huge. Your photographs are beautiful, they have everything to understand how beautiful nature is. Thank you very much.

It's incredible yes.
Can get lost yeah if you lose the GPS signal and wander very far. Still, unlikely to happen if you have basic navigational skills.

Woooooo! Bro, look how I am scared for you at my end just because you stood up there,I love your daredevil anyways☺️ If only I were there, I would have also love to dare, Lol! The picture of the plant looks unique with the trees behind the plants

Yeah, as I mentioned, I don't recommend doing that but it did make a good photo for sure 😅. If I were to fall, it would have been 150m straight down 😬.

Lol! I love your spirit😂

very beautiful place. extraordinary beauty.

Yeah, most definitely.

Very beautiful place. I also wish to have visit such a beautiful places that represents nature very closely.
