Ah, yes, sand and cars (that aren't beasts with big crampon wheels and 4x4 drive) don't go together.
Once, in Greece, I started to park my car in an improvised parking lot that was sandy and after 5 minutes of trying to get out of the holes that my wheels had deepened, I had to call other drivers for help...
Fuck it, I didn't have a shovel and some thicker longer boards in the car, I headed to the beach.

Also in Greece, on a sand bar near the town of Posidi, which extends about 1 km into the sea, I witnessed several times when inexperienced drivers got stuck in the middle of the bar and then had to pay for towing.
Taught by the experience of getting stuck in a parking lot, I only drive on hard surfaces, I don't go in the sand.

Driving in sand takes preparation, equipment and some skills and without them one is likely to get bogged. Sand is pretty unforgiving like that, as you found out. Lol.

I have a neighbor, he might be up to the challenge with his vehicle...
