From Wild Child to Serenity Central

Earlier today I posted a short little video in the awesome Amazing Nature Community, of a few cows that I came upon on a recent walk on the beach. Cute, right?

But it got me thinking.

From Sex On the Beach, Bahama Mamas and wild crazy nights, to being a teetotalling momma who loves naps and would rather peacefully chill with a couple o' cows than even entertain the thought of stepping foot in a "clurb" ever again...

Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking: doesn't this happen to all of us? It's just growing up afterall..?

It's more than that, though.

I shouldn't even BE here. I have turned around at the brink (door?) of suicide several times, I have shoved enough substances in my body to sink a ship, I was blatantly reckless with my life often enough to have convinced myself that I MUST have several guardian angels watching over me.

And it dawned on me. However much I consider myself a loner (albeit with a husband and two great kids), I am only here today by the grace of others, their belief in me, their listening to me, their willingness to engage and connect with me, and olympic-level non-judgement. This goes against the long-standing idea that, in order to succeed, all a person needs to do is persevere and tenaciously believe in him/herself. It's a huge part of success, true, but it's not the whole shebang.

I'm here to tell you, straight from Loner 5000's mouth, the same loner girl who once believed to her core that she needed NO ONE in this world to get by, that you don't need to go it alone always and forever. Maybe right now, at this very moment, it's your only choice - and that's ok, it's amazing, keep going, you can do it..! But please: don't close yourself off to connection. I've learned the (very) hard way, that the opposite of connection is addiction. Somewhere out there is someone who understands completely what you're going through.

So hold on, the light is coming. Or the beach, or Spring, or whatever it is that brings you peace.

Maybe even a few cows.

Much love and peace to you all xxx

Impressive @lizzyloo! I like your humor, and how you deliver what you want to say is very effective. I sense that you can be a great moderator for the community. Would you want to?

@imawreader I would love to 😄 How does it work?

As of now, there isn't any special requirement to become a moderator. I'm looking for people who have a knack and wisdom to inspire others, and you seem to be one of them. I did checked you blog too and really like the way you write.

And since you like the role, I'll make you a moderator (a country representative) for the Inspire People Community.

Addiction? What kind?

Myself, substances; others I've known, gambling, shopping, even exercising - you name it.
