Here are some photos I took, while I was in town recently. In land scarce Singapore, the only space available is up. So, we have lots of high rise buildings. The only low buildings we have are those that have historic value, and are under preservation.

Raffles city hotels and shopping mall.
Singapore war memorial
It is always good to see some greens in the midst of concrete buildings.
Prewar shop houses. I believe these are under preservation.
A historic building complex, restored and preserved.
Another historic building restored and preserved. It is now the Capitol Kempinski Hotel.
I always love these vertical Green buildings because its such a great concept for Bug cities!

I remember when I first arrived in Singapore over 30 years ago and in a van going from the airport to Sembawang being amazed to see all the high rise buildings so different from NZ which has so few high rise buildings

So much beautiful architecture.! I do love seeing the shop houses and knowing that they are being preserved.
We don't have the luxury of space and land here. But the government does try to preserve structures and buildings that has historical value. Enjoy your Sunday.
