No one knows how long they stayed before they abandoned their settlements. Maybe they didn't get along with the Natives and that precipitated to abandonment? The funny thing is they keep finding older and older dates of humans in the Americas, our species has always innovated and probably arrived here way before the archeologist have found so far.
