Medieval and modern at the same time. I'd still love to get more of these pieces of Eight art. I'll keep en eye out for the 1715 Fleet version.
It's the same as my Type 1 (26g) except they appeared to have actually snipped the edges just to make the Type 2 (22g).

The real cobs do get clipped down to their 26gram weight or close to it as possible. The result may be crappy looking but it does give this form of money a little genuine character that makes it descriptive for the era. Eventually the coining mill and coin dies came around raising the minting rate and quality of the Spanish 8 Reale.
