Why such a difference on silver OZ prices, ingots and coins.

Trying to undertsand

I got a new question for #silvergoldstackers ...

You see that nice shiny, a Philharmony 1 OZ ? at Comptoirdelor.be, they are selling that coin at 32.0€ while they sell the 1 OZ silver ingot at 68.60€ see here...

They both weight 1oz, right?
I also see the ingot has 21% tax (V.A.T.) while the coin hasn't, but the coin has a collecting value and if nobody wants it, you still can melt it to make an ingot out of it.

The question is simple, why is the ingot that expensive compared to the coin? It's above 200%.

Is it the same with other stores or in other countries, what would be the incentive to buy the ingot ? While the coin has no V.A.T and is less expensive for the same weight?

That is also a reason why I stick to gold up to now, such differences do not apply with gold ...
Ingot 1 OZ = 2610€ and a coin 2599€ . the difference is the premium ...

Any explanations or ideas on those variations ?

Thank you for your replies, as always.

Note: Thank you for the quick upgrade to silver when I mentioned the new delegation I made earlier this week:)

It's all premium, brand names can make a big difference as does rarity. I would go with the Philharmonic any day though, why pay VAT if you don't have too? Unless you desperately want that particular bar...

Meanwhile in Canada, any silver or gold less then .999 is slapped with a VAT; US & CAD junk, flatware, silverware, jewelry etc.
Bullion that is .999 are usually not with an exception is that the product is a coin collected for numismatic purpose is a new one and subject to Provincial Sales Tax.

To avoid the VAT here it's gold in general or silver collectibles.
