Welcome to this new drawing tutorial. On this occasion, I will show you the process to create a female portrait with ink, exploring techniques and details that bring the drawing to life.
PROCESO // PROCESS
Para empezar dibujaremos un círculo grande para el cráneo y trazaremos una línea vertical en el centro para mantener la simetría del rostro. Luego, debajo del círculo, añadimos una forma ovalada en la que irá la mandíbula y el mentón. Después se unen ambos lados del círculo con la parte inferior para formar la silueta completa de la cabeza. Este boceto base sirve como guía para ubicar correctamente las partes del rostro y lograr proporciones más equilibradas antes de pasar a los detalles.
To start we will draw a large circle for the skull and we will draw a vertical line in the center to maintain the symmetry of the face. Then, under the circle, we add an oval shape in which the jaw and chin will go. Then join both sides of the circle with the bottom to form the complete silhouette of the head. This base sketch serves as a guide to correctly locate the parts of the face and achieve more balanced proportions before moving on to the details.
Aquí el rostro ya está un poco más estructurado. Primero marcamos la línea central para mantener la simetría y una linea horizontal para ubicar los ojos. Luego se dibujan dos óvalos, se colocan las cejas encima y se define la nariz usando formas simples (círculos y líneas). Después se perfecciona la forma de la mandíbula, se agregan las orejas a la misma altura de los ojos y la nariz, y se comienza a delimitar el área del cabello. Este paso sirve para afinar proporciones antes de pasar a detalles y tinta.
Here the face is already a little more structured. First we mark the center line to maintain symmetry and a horizontal line to locate the eyes. Then two ovals are drawn, the eyebrows are placed on top and the nose is defined using simple shapes (circles and lines). Then the shape of the jaw is perfected, the ears are added at the same height of the eyes and the nose, and the hair area begins to be delimited. This step is used to fine-tune proportions before moving on to details and ink.
En este punto ya definimos los rasgos finales del rostro. Se le da forma a los ojos agregando párpados e iris, se ajusta la forma de la nariz y se detallan los labios dándoles volumen, mientras se ultiman detalles del rostro en general y se suaviza la mandíbula. También se marcan las cejas y se dibuja el cabello y el cuello. Aquí el dibujo deja de ser solo estructura y empieza a tomar expresión antes de pasar al entintado.
At this point we have already defined the final features of the face. The eyes are shaped by adding eyelids and irises, the shape of the nose is adjusted and the lips are detailed giving them volume, while finalizing details of the face in general and softening the jaw. The eyebrows are also marked and the hair and neck are drawn. Here the drawing stops being just structure and begins to take expression before moving on to the inking.

Aquí está el resultado final en tinta. Se limpiaron las líneas del boceto y se definieron los rasgos con trazos firmes, destacando los ojos con mayor detalle, dando profundidad y mayor expresión. El cabello se pintó de color negro sólido para crear contraste y que la atención se dirigiera principalmente al rostro, mientras que los labios y cejas se trabajaron con líneas finas para aportar textura y volumen. Finalmente, se borraron los trazos a lápiz y listo, así quedó.
Here is the final result in ink. The lines of the sketch were cleaned and the features were defined with firm strokes, highlighting the eyes in greater detail, giving depth and greater expression. The hair was dyed solid black to create contrast and that the attention was mainly directed to the face, while the lips and eyebrows were worked with fine lines to provide texture and volume. Finally, the pencil strokes were erased and that's it, so it was.
