At 12:52 AM I awoke in a mid air collision!
The sound of violent banging and crashing were all around me, as my bed slammed back into the core, it felt like I was on a magic carpet ride to hell for the first few minutes of this morning. Not once but twice my bed hurled up off the ground, into the air as i laid there motionless in the space between bewilderment and reality.
βWhat was thatβ I thought? "Was it a burglar trying to steal me away, house and all? Or maybe it's World War III, and we got bombed by Russia?" All sorts of spine-chilling thoughts rushed to my head, as the fragments of dreams my dreams melted away and a new nightmare emerged.
Before the Internet, there were the birds!
Immediately I could hear the beating of feathers as a flock of Pheasants were crowing in the distance. I remembered hearing them after the last major Earthquake, so the familiar sound was a good sign, however curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to confirm the Pheasants & wait 15 minutes for the internet to catch up to the Bird Wire. About 1:05 AM I did a google search and here's what I found!
4.7 Magnitude Earthquake in Hawaii!
It was a real Eartthquake, good I didn't just imagine that whole thing I thought, I however there is still something peculiar about it. Preliminary reports clocked the quake off the coast of Kahoβolawe, the Island just 24 miles South of Maui. 5 minutes later the report had changed to the East side of Maui, USGS says that the Quake derived from Hana Maui? Since both of their estimates moved so much, I'm just going to estimate that this Earthquake actually originated from under my bed. I think I was closer to ground Zero than anyone, unless anyone else on the island can claim their bed lifting up off the ground over half a foot, then I'm sticking to my conclusion.
First Comes the Earthquake, then comes the Tsunami!
Oh Rats I thought, I hope I can make it to my dentist appointment later? Every time we have a big earthquake someone issues a Tsunami Warning and that totally screws up any plans anyone has for the whole day. It's just my luck I thought, I was also trying to get a good night's sleep before my dentist appointment, the last thing I wanted to do was have to cancel that appointment down town.
I was really looking forward to my appointment, I love getting my teeth souped up. Itβs not so much the actual fixing that is the hard part, I think what's worse is the anticipation of the appointment, so if there is a Tidal Wave alert I would have to anticipate this dentist appointment longer, which is the last thing I wanted to do.
Luckily there was no Tsunami generated or warning today, so I was able to get to the dentist after all.
Today ended up being a good day, despite waking up on the wrong side of an earthquake. Hereβs how the day ended with a few more of my original sunset shots from the roof this shaky evening.
Greetings boss I really love this colour of the photographs and I can sight the sunset. Good job

Is really great seeing a wonderful day what a natural nature
I really appreciate your humorous, theatrical way of describing your experience of the earthquake. A fun read. It's very curious to me that you had an earthquake on Maui.
I live on the far eastern tip of the Big Island, on the property of an intentional community that has a good bit of an acre covered by lava from the last flow in 2018. I live right square in the middle of one of the most volcanically active places on earth, and earthquakes often abound here, especially when the lava starts flowing.

Very nice sunsets, very pretty and assume colors.
Thank goodness you didnβt have a Tsunami. I think there was one recently that hit Tonga, Guam, and a part of California.
