Art Safari-purpose and place

Art Safari is a new museum concept for me, new for the city where I live, Bucharest, and I don't think it was invented here. The initiators probably saw something similar elsewhere.

After writing the above I was ashamed that I have so little faith in the imagination and creativity of my fellow citizens, so I searched, with the help of AI, for an answer. I must admit that I was most pleasantly surprised by the answer I received:

"The Art Safari model is a cultural event dedicated to contemporary art initiated in Romania. Although there may be inspirations or influences from other countries, the concept of Art Safari is considered to be originally Romanian. The event aims to promote local and international artists and bring art closer to the public through exhibitions, workshops, and various cultural activities. Thus, although it can be compared with similar events in other parts of the world, its essence and development are specific to the Romanian context."

Dacia Palace, built in 1890, is where Art Safari organizes its exhibitions.

This palace is opposite the National Bank of Romania, in the middle of the Old Center of Bucharest.

The first Art Safari was in May 2014.

I have to say that I knew about this initiative but ignored it until the twelfth edition, called "Love Edition", from June 30 to September 10, 2023.

The famous statue The Kiss was the star of the exhibition and I wanted to see it up close. Constantin Brancusi, who made this statue, is famous and is considered the first modern sculptor. He is a Romanian sculptor who lived and worked in Paris.

When I write this I can't believe that, for almost ten years, I have ignored such a special artistic phenomenon.

From that moment on, I resolved not to miss any more editions, there have been four so far... and yet I missed one because I didn't like the theme.

ART SAFARI, museum of temporary exhibitions.

What is Art Safari? It's exactly what the title says.

A series of temporary exhibitions are organized several times a year. Each edition lasts approximately three months.

Each edition usually consists of 5 exhibitions. As there are three editions per year, we have the chance to visit 15 unique exhibitions per year, going to only one location, the Dacia Palace.

I want to share the most beautiful and interesting things I have seen and photographed in the many Art Safari exhibitions.

Before doing that I think it is necessary to present the place where the exhibitions are hosted.

Next, I want to show you pictures of the Dacia Palace from outside the exhibitions because the access and passage areas are decorated in an original and attractive way. Even these places look like an exhibition...

Exit

The exit is a little scary, especially for those afraid of snakes.

I think it has a name: Anaconda!

There are also some very narrow hallways sometimes without much light, which brings a mystery to the place.

This is the place where, every three months, I can see new exhibitions. I hope to keep up the pace and visit them all.
I promise to show them in detail here in the Museum Community!

Without intending to, I managed to include myself in a photo with the famous Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast in the world to achieve the maximum score, of 10.00, at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Sort:

The place is already imposing and marvellous both in its exterior façade and in the interior.... the stairs woww those paintings, they look dizzying and I'm sure you can go every three months and visit it. Great last picture!

Some great works of art here. Sometimes our curiosity surprises us when we look things up. To me, I get a chuckle finding out things I feel I should know. I'm not afraid of snakes and I find the stairway pretty cool, it really blends in 😃

That's right, we can be amused when we find out things we should know. We're always learning!
