Hello everyone, I am back with last week's demographics data on the social media side of the blockchain. As more data comes, we get more to talk about the community. Of course, it is possible for me to get data from previous weeks, however, we have to look up to the future.
I have sorted out 9861 unique accounts that have interacted with the social media interface of the Hive by means of posting and commenting. 6450 of them had their "Location" filled on their profiles. My filters managed to interpret 5180 of them and placed them into a country. 4681 "Pirates" have managed to slip through the filters and are denoted on the table.
This week Venezuela was still #1 on the unique user count of posts & comments. Again it has kept its 10% user ratio. The enormity of the Venezuelan community can also be noticed by the bilingual (ENG/ESP) posts on the platforms.
USA kept its second place in the rankings, while Philipinnes went down from last week's #3 to #5. Nigeria and Indonesia both climbed up 1 rank, to #3 and #4, respectively. Of course, Nigeria, Indonesia and Philipinnes are head to head considering the distinct users' post counts.
Below the top 21 countries tabulated (#20 and #21 were tied), apart from the aforementioned countries, there was no significant changes compared to last week's results. Except for the case for Spain and Argentina outnumbering Colombia and Ukraine.
Country | Users | Percentage |
---|---|---|
990 | 10% | |
504 | 5.1% | |
276 | 2.8% | |
269 | 2.7% | |
264 | 2.7% | |
185 | 1.9% | |
174 | 1.8% | |
150 | 1.5% | |
139 | 1.4% | |
124 | 1.3% | |
105 | 1.1% | |
102 | 1% | |
95 | 1% | |
82 | 0.8% | |
78 | 0.8% | |
73 | 0.7% | |
70 | 0.7% | |
63 | 0.6% | |
60 | 0.6% | |
55 | 0.6% | |
55 | 0.6% | |
4681 | 47.5% |
Please check out your "Location" on your profile page if you would like to be included in this work. Also, please fill it with the proper name of your country, in English letters. That is the only way to make this work more accurate.
See you next time!
We really can't say anything conclusive... except that the majority of #Hivians wish to remain geographically anonymous. That's a lot of "pirates".
I am building a big navy manned with my highly decorated sailors. Time to hunt'em down in their hideouts!
(I should issue a Pirate token (ironically) which could be sent only to people whose location is defined)
Have you tried to use the IP-adresses?
I am not sure if I can obtain the IP addresses. Even if I could, VPN's would obscure the data.
Ok.

Check out the last post from @hivebuzz:
Support the HiveBuzz project. Vote for our proposal!
This is very interesting data. I think it would be also interesting to see the "content" demographics (e.g., language, topics, content types, etc.)
The previous HiveBuzz proposal expired end of December.
Do you mind supporting our proposal for 2022 so our team can continue its work next year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, or using HiveSigner.
Thank you. We wish you a Happy New Year!Dear @porsuk,
