What is the Hive DAO?
The Hive DAO (aka Decentralized Hive Fund) allows Hive users to publicly propose work that they are willing to do in exchange for HBD (Hive Backed Dollars). Other Hive users can then vote on these proposals using their Hive Power. The proposals that get a sufficient amount of vote weight get funded from a special Hive account (@steem.dao) controlled by the Hive blockchain.

3. Additional funds
The funding is generated from an extra inflation. 10% of all newly generated HIVE goes to the DAO. The price of HIVE has a large impact on how much new HBD is added to the Hive DAO.

Could you also make an informative post about Hive will not face similar crises as were faced by Steem and if there is a possibility then what precautions to take at blockchain level.
The trust has reduced for both hive and steem in recent crises
It was already tough enough understanding the DAO but seeing what is going on with it is very helpful!

Great post! It would be beneficial to the community if this were to be a regular post. We are entering uncharted waters with a truly decentralized platform run by a community. A regular update on where the HBD is going and for what initiatives is a fantastic way to keep the community informed.
My plan is to post an update once a week.
Great plots. Currently there aren't too many funded proposals... it would be cool to color the bars in plot 1 by proposal. This would let the viewer see how many proposals are funded and the relative amounts.
Even cooler would be an interactive version to hover over the bar segment to see proposal details! Something like plotly or vega-lite could do this I think.

This is excellent ... it is good to know what we have and how it is being used ... this kind of transparency is what we need NOT to reproduce the patterning that led Steem to be vulnerable.
