After working remotely for the last 2 years, I am never more certain that there is no substitute for some in person sessions, especially for creative disciplines.
In person fosters a certain spontaneity that leads to innovation, sense of direction and shared purpose that binds people and get projects going and builds momentum.
Meetups
In person meetups have always been important to me since I started out on the old chain. The best example of this is SteemHivefest that has been running for the last few years.
In addition to this annual gathering, there are regular meetups between friends, larger meetups with communities and of course all the virtual connections in places like Discord, Hive Chat or Open Chat on PeakD.
Monthly Hive Meetup Report
On the Old Chain I used to publish monthly listings of Meetups Globally to show growth and activity of communities on chain. This is the first such post for Hive, but you can see the format I am going for with some of my old posts

Update January 2022
This is the first post for Hive, and it's quite labour intensive to analyse the data, so I will just cover meetups in the last month. This will be the format going forward.
This data largely is gathered based on posts in the #meetup tag but there are some other sources also used including @hivesql
Where were there meetups in the last month?
I am sure there were more that people didn't post about on Hive, but I would encourage the community to share in person public meetups of 2 or more Hive Users to show the strength and reach of Hive and use the #meetup tag
The the last month the following meetups were posted on Hive and are shown on the above map.
If you didn't make any of these there are some more to look out for coming up and hopefully we will have more and more in person meetups in 2022. @themarkymark will we see a Hive Punks Meetup some time in 2022?
Where are there upcoming Meetups?

Analysis of Meetup Tag
- 28 Posts in the Last Month using this tag
- 18 Unique Authors
- The biggest payout posts went to @hivecreatorsday and @starstrings01.
- It's worth knowing community building events are usually rewarded well by the community on Hive when people post about them.
- This post is my daily contribution to a challenge by @dragosroua to "publish a meaningful post every day of January"
Who's Up For A January Writing Streak?
Adelaide, South Australia has a meetup on the last Thursday of each month, from 6pm at The Jade on Flinders St in the city.
Anyone welcome. We've been going strong for 3 years now, but don't often post.
This is a really nice and awesome post. We have our #meetup in Vienna always on the first Thursday in the month. So the next one ist on 03.02.2022.
Here is the afterreport from the last one in Vienna: https://peakd.com/hivemeetupvienna/@manncpt/report-of-the-1st-hive-meetup-vienna-in-2022-bericht-vom-ersten-wiener-hive-stammtisch-in-2022-ende
So if Corona say yes, we meet at a local hotspot offline and do also a hybrid meet up for all the online people. So you can join worldwide anyway offline or online.
So thank your for reblogging my post. Keep going with your work and cya on the next Meet Up. Maybe online - watch out for the invitation from @manncpt.
Best wishes from Vienna
