The Hive Supply on Exchanges Continues to Grow! | Data on Deposits, Withdrawals by Date, Top Accounts | Dec 2025

in Hive Statistics2 days ago

The supply of a token on exchanges is a parameter that is usually closely monitored. The top coins, Bitcoin, Ethereum are especially closely monitored when it comes to the supply on exchanges. What about HIVE?

What is the share of the HIVE supply held on exchanges? What is the trend is it going up or down? How has deposited/withdraw the most? Let’s take a look!

Here we will be looking at the following:

  • Net deposits VS withdrawals
  • HIVE balance on exchanges
  • Top accounts that deposited to exchanges
  • Top accounts that withdraw from exchanges
  • Top exchanges balance
  • Upbit and Binance balance

Exchanges taken in the analysis: Upbit, Binance, Bithumb, Hive Engine, Huobi, Gate.io, MEXC, CoinEX, Indodax and Bitget. There are few more exchanges but the volume there is quite low.

Net Daily Deposits and Withdrawals from Exchanges

When we add the deposits and withdrawals on a daily basis the chart looks like this.

Note: Transfers between exchanges accounts are excluded from the data above.

The most noticeable moves here as well are back in 2021, when first there was a lot of withdrawals and then deposits to exchange. Since then, we can see some spikes up and down, but much smaller moves. Most of the time there is more daily deposits then withdrawals. We can notice the recent spikes in January 2025 and then lower volumes again. Some downs in the last days as well.

Monthly Net Deposits VS Withdrawals

When we add the deposits and withdrawals on a monthly basis the chart looks like this.

A clearer representation here.
Again, the volatility back from 2021 is noticeable here as well. This is because of the HBD movements at the time, when HBD increased to above its peg, and a lot of HIVE was withdrawn from exchanges and converted to HBD.

In the last period there is constantly more HIVE deposited to change each month, with a peak in November 2025, with 5M HIVE deposited in the month. There were some slow down in the summer of 2025 but now we are back again in the high numbers.

HIVE Balance on Exchanges

What is the amount of HIVE on exchanges?
Here is the chart.

image005.png

As we can see the overall HIVE balance on exchanges has been growing, with some dips along the way. The biggest dip happened back in September 2021, when there was a lot of HIVE converted to HBD due to the increase in the HBD price. A steady growth since then with occasional small dips.
The current supply for HIVE on exchanges is at 235M HIVE.
At the beginning of 2025 this number was at 202M meaning 33M HIVE was deposited to exchanges in 2025.

The yearly data looks like this:

YearHIVE to Exchanges
2021-2,440,953
202215,324,520
202324,000,220
202438,984,092
202533,000,000

When we plot the balance on the exchanges against the total HIVE supply, we get this.
HIVE share on exchanges in percent %.

image009.png

From the chart above we can say that the HIVE balance on exchanges has been growing both in absolute and in relative terms.
We are now at 46% of all the HIVE on exchanges and have been hovering around that spot for the whole 2025. This is an all-time high when it comes to the share of HIVE on exchanges. At the beginning of 2025 the share was at 43%, so a 3% growth in the share of HIVE on exchange in 2025.

The top exchanges that hold HIVE are the following:

image011.png

Upbit is absolutely dominant with 155M HIVE. On the second spot is Binance with 40M, followed by another Korean exchange Bithumb.
Upbit and Binance have been the major two exchanges for HIVE for years now. There have been some new listings recently but still not a significant amounts on those.

Upbit

When we take a closer look to Upbit we have this chart:

image013.png

It has been growing in most of the period, especially back in 2021. In the last year there was a small decline in the amount of HIVE on Upbit, in the first half of 2024, then an increase again, and it the very last month there is a growth again. A total of 155M HIVE is now on Upbit!

Binance

The Binance chart looks like this:

image015.png

A more diverse trend here. An increase in the beginning, then a drop and somewhat side action in the last few years, up to 2023, when at the end of the year the and the beginning of 2024 the amount of HIVE on Biance started growing again with a spike towards the end of the year and the beginning of 2025 up to 50M, then a drop and again to around 40M where we are now.

Here is the chart for Upbit VS Binance:

image017.png

At first, four years ago, these two were close, but then Upbit kept on growing while Binance dropped a bit. In the last period Upbit, both Upbit and Binance have kept growing with some volatility in between.

As mentioned in the six months, especially since the introduction of Hive features, there seems to be higher volatility and more coins moved between these two, as we can notice at the end of the chart.

Still there is a big gap between these two, with close to 100M HIVE more on Upbit then Binance, a 155M to 40M. Upbit is a real risk for HIVE with the number of tokens there.

Top Accounts that Deposited to Exchanges in 2025

The last two months have seen some positive action. Here is the chart who deposited the most to exchanges. I have excluded exchanges to exchanges direct movements.

image019.png

There seems to be new arbitrage accounts in the top, as some of the accounts move tokens around, just between different accounts and they show up here. This seems to be the case for the top three accounts.

Note that this is a net HIVE deposited to exchanges, with both, deposits and withdrawals taken into account.

Top Accounts that Withdrawn from Exchanges in 2025

Who has withdrawn the most funds from exchanges? Here is the chart.

image021.png

Overall from the above we can say that most of the accounts are some type of market makers that get into the list. Not a lot of regular community members that move large amounts around. Congrats to @tarazkp though!

All the best

Great report. Like usual

Upbit holding 155M HIVE is insane, it’s like the whole market is parked there and Binance just chills with 40M

Slightly more interesting would be musings about why all that $HIVE is making it's way to Exchanges and constantly growing, if it were another Crypto chain or token it would be a negative indicator right, as scarcity is decreasing, and it looks like more $HIVE is bein pushed to Exchanges to sell?

Or has someone got a different spin on it, indicating a positive?
