Greetings to everyone in this great community, receive a big hug and my best wishes for everyone, today I want to share with you how it was for me to learn to shave and inspire me to work barbering in my day to day.
Hace 3 años inicié mi primer trabajo en una institución pública llamada IPOSTEL, que es el instituto postal de acá de Venezuela. Me gustaba mucho mi trabajo pero por los problemas económicos del pais el salario mínimo no alcanza para nada. Cuando mi esposa salió embarazada en el 2019, llegaron las preocupaciones de que mi sueldo no alcanzaba y decidí que sería bueno aprender a cortar cabello ya que mi abuela tenía una máquina de afeitar.
Three years ago I started my first job in a public institution called IPOSTEL, which is the postal institute here in Venezuela. I really liked my job but due to the economic problems of the country the minimum wage was not enough. When my wife got pregnant in 2019, I was worried that my salary was not enough and I decided that it would be good to learn how to cut hair since my grandmother had a razor.
Al principio me costó aprender un poco pues me instruia a través de vídeos que veía por Youtube y practicaba conmigo mismo, algunos amigos y mi hermano menor, que dejaban que yo los afeitara para que aprendiera. Fue alrededor de 3 meses que dure aprendiendo para poder trabajar como barbero.
At the beginning I had a hard time learning a little bit because I instructed myself through videos I watched on Youtube and practiced with myself, some friends and my younger brother, who let me shave them so I could learn. It was about 3 months that I lasted learning to be able to work as a barber.
Luego de unos meses ya tenía más experiencia y trabajaba a domicilio para algunos conocidos y ellos me fueron recomendando a otras personas y así fui ganando clientela. Gracias a que mi mamá es peluquera y tiene muchos años, me fue enseñando como cortar el cabello a tijera y así fui mejorando cada día.
After a few months I had more experience and was working at home for some acquaintances and they were recommending me to other people and so I was gaining customers. Thanks to my mother being a hairdresser for many years, she taught me how to cut hair with scissors and so I improved every day.
Hoy día tengo 2 años trabajando este oficio que me gusta mucho, lo que para mí inicio como una necesidad, se convirtió en una pasión que me inspira cada día a mejorar y le doy gracias a Dios por darme este don y por darme la oportunidad de trabajarlo para sacar adelante a mi familia. Para mí la barberia es un arte que puedo perfeccionar con cada día y para mí es un placer trabajarla, aún no he podido tener un local propio para trabajarla pero trabajo junto a mi mama en su casa que tiene su espacio para la peluquería y me ofreció un espacio junto a ella.
Today I have 2 years working in this profession that I like very much, what for me started as a necessity, became a passion that inspires me every day to improve and I thank God for giving me this gift and for giving me the opportunity to work it to help my family. For me barbering is an art that I can perfect every day and for me it is a pleasure to work it, I have not yet been able to have my own place to work it but I work with my mother in her house that has its own space for hairdressing and she offered me a space with her.
En el momento más difícil para mí se me dió está oportunidad que siempre le agradezco a Dios, porque la solución que veía para poder sacar a mi esposa con el embarazo adelante era salir de mi país a trabajar sin tener una garantía de lo que pasaria y no estar para el nacimiento de mi hijo, lo cual me desgarraba el alma, por eso no dejo de agradecer este don que me fue dado. Espero mi historia inspire a otros a emprender y aprender nuevas cosas, gracias por leerme y bendiciones para todos.
At the most difficult time for me I was given this opportunity that I always thank God, because the solution I saw to get my wife with pregnancy ahead was to leave my country to work without having a guarantee of what would happen and not be for the birth of my son, which tore my soul, so I do not stop thanking this gift that was given to me. I hope my story inspires others to undertake and learn new things, thank you for reading me and blessings to all.
