El sentido de la creación artística (es/en)

¿Se nace totalmente un artista? ¿El genio o el talento es un rápido y potente geiser que puede inundar todo el cuerpo y mostrar de golpe la genialidad de un sujeto?

Contario a lo que piensa la gran generalidad los artistas no son, no somos seres de los que el hilo divino de la creación emerge de golpe y de la misma forma queda conformada para la eternidad una obra maestra.

Ni siquiera esos seres extraordinarios que nacen uno o dos, tal vez tres por siglo, producen de manera inmediata una pieza perfecta. Si bien llegan a este mundo con la predisposición genética, con la capacidad de sobrepasar la media a la hora de forjar en menor periodo de tiempo y con mayor ingenio sus creaciones, necesitan tiempo para indagar dentro de sí, procesar, probar.

Procesos que generalmente se producen silencio y que sólo se revelan al mundo cuando el talento sabe consolidado, sabe disponer a piacere en su mente y corporalidad en función de la creación: ya sea mostrando públicamente su talento.

Is an artist totally born? Is genius or talent a quick and powerful geyser that can flood the whole body and suddenly show the genius of a subject?

Contrary to what the generality thinks, artists are not, we are not beings from whom the divine thread of creation emerges all at once and in the same way a masterpiece is shaped for eternity.

Not even those extraordinary beings that are born one or two, maybe three per century, immediately produce a perfect piece. Although they come into this world with a genetic predisposition, with the capacity to surpass the average when it comes to forging their creations in a shorter period of time and with greater ingenuity, they need time to delve into themselves, to process, to test.
Así sucedió con varios prodigios de la música que incluso se enrolaban exhaustivas en competencias de improvisaciones (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin) o utilizando sus habilidades de un modo más íntimo, pero de igualmente manera magnificente, como los grandes pintores Miguel Angel Buonarroti, Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso.

De igual forma sucede con los demás artistas que no siendo genios, han edificado la historia universal del arte. El talento y sus frutos son el resultado de un amplio periodo de ser curtidos.

Y si bien las circunstancias de producción de la obra de arte (espacio, contexto, vida personal, traumas, etc.) en ocasiones operan indudablemente en la morfología de esta, hay factores fundamentales, como ante referimos, que determinarán el éxito del artista como persona, y no sólo la calidad de su obra.

Estamos hablando del tiempo y la consagración que invierta a su auto preparación, formación y ejercicio creativo.

This was the case with several musical prodigies who even engaged in exhaustive improvisation competitions (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin) or used their skills in a more intimate but equally magnificent way, such as the great painters Michelangelo Buonarroti, Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso.

The same happens with other artists who, although not geniuses, have built the universal history of art. Talent and its fruits are the result of a long period of being tanned.

And although the circumstances of production of the work of art (space, context, personal life, traumas, etc.) sometimes undoubtedly operate in the morphology of this, there are fundamental factors, as we mentioned before, that will determine the success of the artist as a person, and not only the quality of his work.

We are talking about the time and dedication invested in self-preparation, training and creative exercise.

El primero de estos, el tiempo, es esencial. Crear no surge de la nada. Se debe estimular, entrenar la mente y los órganos de percepción para captar y procesar señales, imágenes, sonidos, discursos, gestos, relaciones espaciales.

Lo que diferenciará al artista de cualquier persona que no intente serlo, será además de eso que se llama talento innato, capacidades que desarrolle, las destrezas. Dentro de estas su capacidad de indagación.

Una que se desarrolla desde nuestro punto de vista en dos niveles, el interno, y el externo. Luego que recibe, recibimos estímulos del mundo en los primeros años de vida, se reacciona ante estos.

El artista procesa toda esa información. La mente se debe convertir en un agujero negro donde se descomponga, se descompone, el mundo que no rodea, hasta reducirlo en partículas minúsculas. Luego de esto, el material se recompone nuevamente una y otra vez hasta llegar al germen de la creación, la idea.

The first of these, time, is essential. Creating does not come out of nowhere. One must stimulate, train the mind and the organs of perception to capture and process signals, images, sounds, speeches, gestures, spatial relationships.

What will differentiate the artist from any person who does not try to be one will be, in addition to what is called innate talent, the abilities he develops, the skills. Among these is the capacity for inquiry.

One that develops from our point of view on two levels, the internal, and the external. After he receives, we receive stimuli from the world in the first years of life, he reacts to them.

The artist processes all that information. The mind must become a black hole where it decomposes, decomposes, the world that does not surround, until it is reduced into tiny particles. After this, the material is recomposed again and again until it reaches the germ of creation, the idea.

Este proceso fluirá sólo en la medida en que el artista se conozca a sí mismo. Sepa quién es y a qué es más susceptible, se deje llevar por lo impulsos internos creativos más básicos, instintivos (tal como respirar).

El otro proceso que constituirá el pilar de la creación será la investigación externa. Esta tanto mérito como el proceso de búsqueda interna, de exploración de nuestra personalidad, disposición, habilidades, el proceso de indagación en el medio es esencial para crear.

El artista vive en un contexto y crea para ese contexto y para el tiempo donde le ha tocado vivir. Esas determinantes casi inevitables, han de condicionar la producción y recepción de la obra de arte.

Por tanto, el artista si de alguna manera desea que su arte esté a la altura de su tiempo, responda a su momento, debe meter el ojo “en el hueco de la cerradura”. Como los antiguos, debe escarbar en la tierra, en el ser humano, conocer su historia, su naturaleza, sus reacciones y el legado cultura que ha dejado.

This process will flow only to the extent that the artist knows himself. He knows who he is and what he is most susceptible to, he allows himself to be driven by the most basic, instinctive, inner creative impulses (like breathing).

The other process that will constitute the pillar of creation will be external research. This as much merit as the process of internal search, of exploration of our personality, disposition, abilities, the process of inquiry in the environment is essential to create.

The artist lives in a context and creates for that context and for the time where he lives. These almost inevitable determinants must condition the production and reception of the work of art.

Therefore, if the artist somehow wants his art to be at the height of his time, to respond to his moment, he must put his eye "in the keyhole". Like the ancients, he must dig into the earth, into the human being, know his history, his nature, his reactions and the cultural legacy he has left behind.

Por mucho que el artista busque alejarse de estas condicionantes, de crear para su aquí y ahora, estos regresarán una y otra vez como regresan la noche y el día; y cuando sea necesario pasarán factura.

De ahí que sea vital el proceso de investigación de la obra. Un texto o una obra que no esté sostenido sobre ella, a simple vista no se sustentarán. Cualquier racha de viento, lo desmontará. Bastará que se someta a un simple proceso de análisis para que la pieza quede inválida.

Así pues, la idea, la base conceptual sea el principio de la creación. Una que sólo se edifica a partir de la confluencia, del mutuo y sistemático proceso de intercambio, a nuestro criterio, de la indagación interna y externa que realiza el artista consigo mismo y con el medio.

Un proceso que a partir de que se inicia nunca, si se desea terminar la pieza, termina. Que Irá modelando la propuesta artística.

No matter how much the artist tries to get away from these conditioning factors, to create for the here and now, they will return again and again as night and day return; and when necessary they will take their toll.

That is why the process of researching the work is vital. A text or a work that is not sustained on it, at first glance, will not be sustained. Any gust of wind will dismantle it. It will be enough to undergo a simple process of analysis for the piece to become invalid.

Thus, the idea, the conceptual basis is the beginning of creation. One that is only built from the confluence, from the mutual and systematic process of exchange, in our opinion, from the internal and external inquiry that the artist carries out with himself and with the environment.

A process that, once it begins, never ends, if the piece is to be finished. It will shape the artistic proposal.

En este punto es donde debemos hacer alusión nuevamente la cuestión operativa del arte. Porque si bien este tiene un principio ideal, conceptual, para que llegue a ser arte lleva un proceso de materialización.

Aquí intervienen la voluntad del artista y su empeño. Sus procesos de búsquedas no se deben detener. El proceso de ensayo y error serán, en la medida que el artista tenga una idea más clara de lo que quiere lograr, constantes.

Vendrán las horas de agotamiento, las decepciones, los replanteos de si se está por buen camino, de si se es incluso un buen artista (porque el que lo es se exige mucho, a veces es cruel consigo mismo).

Este es el punto donde comienza la batalla entre el cielo y la tierra. La idea, la abrumadora y delicia provocación creativa que no deja al cuerpo dormir, se hace más presente.

It is at this point that we must once again allude to the operative question of art. Because although it has an ideal, conceptual principle, for it to become art it requires a process of materialization.

This is where the artist's will and determination come into play. His research processes should not be stopped. The process of trial and error will be, to the extent that the artist has a clearer idea of what he wants to achieve, constant.

There will come the hours of exhaustion, the disappointments, the rethinking of whether he is on the right path, of whether he is even a good artist (because he who is a good artist demands a lot of himself, sometimes he is cruel to himself).

This is the point where the battle between heaven and earth begins. The idea, the overwhelming and delightful creative provocation that does not let the body sleep, becomes more present.

Las contradicciones, regresiones y progresos se harán más presentes en la medida en que el artista o el escritor sean más serios, tengan como máxima un enfoque en lo que quieren. Sin este, por mucha idea que se tenga, la obra se convertirá en muchas ocasiones en un constante boceto: un artista sin enfoque, camina dando vueltas en círculos.

Pero cuando este es su máxima, todo fluye. El proceso creativo de la obra será un parto menos doloroso, menos riesgoso y la criatura que viene al mundo del arte es más sana, meritoria en todo el sentido de la palabra.

Eso sí, el proceso de creación debe ser constante. Moverse constantemente entre la cabeza y las manos. Esa operación, ese pacto no debe nunca quebrantarse.

Porque de nada vale que tengamos idea fabulosas y no las llevamos a la práctica. En las sencillas palabras que hemos abordado, paradójicamente reside el sentido de la creación artística.

Contradictions, regressions and progress will become more present to the extent that the artist or writer is more serious, having as a maximum a focus on what they want. Without this, no matter how much idea one has, the work will often become a constant sketch: an artist without focus walks around in circles.

But when this is their maxim, everything flows. The creative process of the work will be less painful, less risky and the creature that comes to the world of art is healthier, meritorious in every sense of the word.

Of course, the creative process must be constant. Constantly moving between the head and the hands. This operation, this pact must never be broken.

Because there is no point in having fabulous ideas and not putting them into practice. In the simple words we have discussed, paradoxically, lies the meaning of artistic creation.

Las aparentes pequeñas cosas, son el principio de todo. En el caso del arte, donde todo parece estar dicho, hay principios que de tanto habilitar entre nosotros se olvidan.

Tal motivo nos hace regresar, devolver estas palabras que nos pueden hacer regresar el principio básico de lo que somos o podemos lograr como artistas.

The apparent little things are the beginning of everything. In the case of art, where everything seems to be said, there are principles that are forgotten because of so much habilitation among us.

Such a reason makes us return, return these words that can bring us back to the basic principle of what we are or can achieve as artists.
