I am indeed taking a break from playing Splinterlands (2022.02.06)

in Splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

I already took the previous two days. But today's losing streak was the real hit in the head. I played 11 battles today, trying to complete the daily quest (Earth quest), and I lost the first 10 battles. That is right. 10 losing streak, and only one win. And I fell back from Bronze II to Bronze III. This happened approximately only in 20 minutes, because I touched "Skip to results" every time. And since I am currently in Bronze III, even if I win, I will not earn Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) rewards. The game says "Get to Bronze II league to earn DEC rewards".

I am not willing to waste anymore time (especially not hours again) for a Legendary (or Alchemy) potion charge. I know that the game would give me that shit again, and I say "no". So I do not even try anymore to complete this quest today. Maybe not even tomorrow. It is simply not worth it. Time wasting.

Maybe this a rage quit from me, but nowadays I would rather play any other game than Splinterlands. Splinterlands used to be a fun, enjoyable, entertaining game with good rewards, but nowadays it is simply frustrating. I rather play League of Legends: Wild Rift, which is not a blockchain game, and not a play-to-earn game, except for the professional (esport) players, but at least it is fun, enjoyable and entertaining. Nowadays Splinterlands is not. It is frustrating and demotivating.

I wonder how many people see this aspect. What do you think?

Just looking at your team selection in each of the 3 above @xplosive and you used the chicken in two. Maybe if you didn't press skip to results and see where you are weak in. Bronze is the most difficult level. It took me ages to get up to silver. Stick to 2 Splinter groups and aim to upgrade them. Then level up a good tank. Strategy is key here as 99% are on level 1 cards so it's a level playing field.

I try to always use the Chicken. That does not cost mana. My max tier is currently Silver III, but nowadays I very rarely reach it. I also realized that leveling up cards (especially summoners) cost a small fortune. This is not for me. Not for someone, who lives with multiple disabilities, under the local minimum wage in Hungary. My pension-like income is approximately $250 USD.

Splinterlands is half pay-to-win and half play-to-earn. But nowadays people with small budget do not have a chance.

So I stop playing Splinterlands at least for a few days.

Good luck and have fun to those, who keep playing.

I write "nowadays", because I am playing it since 2018.12.30, and it used to be more fair in the past. I remember one or sometimes even more cards for completing the daily quests, and not the shit potions like nowadays. And it was not this hard either.

I really hope that it will be more fair again in the past.

I give you some !PIZZA, some !LUV and some !hivebits.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

The chicken is great to absorb one or 2 blows, but it should be placed either in first or last position. It's pretty much useless in the middle.
And if you are to take a break, consider leasing your cards out on peakmonsters rental market. It won't pay much, but at least better than potions 😉

I will check that. According to PeakMonsters, the current total value of my Splinterlands card collection is $672.33 USD. Maybe leasing out some of the better cards would give a few cents per day. That would be still better than the Legendary/Alchemy potion charges.

Thanks! Just keep an eye on your collection power when leasing out, you might drop to a lower league

Do not worry about that. I cannot drop much from Bronze III. 😂
My current max tier is Silver III, but I very rarely reach it, as if it would not even exist.

On top of what the rest of the comments mentioned, I guess it also depends on your objective of playing Splinterlands, is it primarily to earn or is it just for fun? For me, it's really for the fun. Any "winnings" are just bonus to me.

Of course, losing streaks are demoralising sometimes. I have lost 10 in a row too. But it is also an opportunity to see what went wrong too. For example, I would note down their lineups and use them next time.

Based on the value of your deck, it shouldn't be too hard to get to Silver! All the best!

Both fun and winnings. But nowadays both are bad in the case of Splinterlands. At least for me. This is why I decided yesterday to lease out at least a part of my Splinterlands card collection, instead of playing.

Good luck and have fun.

For an earth quest, I tend to think Unicorn Mustang will do wonders as your tank and if you add in the Chaos Legion healer, you might have some better luck. At least that was my recommendation to my friend who plays with level 1 summoner and it seemed to work out for him.

I don't really blame you for feeling bad at losing. Just take your time but the game has definitely gotten tougher as the player base went up.

From time to time I indeed use Unicord Mustang, but mostly without a healer. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. Maybe I am just too tired of the struggling for nothing. Either way, I will probably keep playing Splinterlands after a short break.

Good luck and have fun.

Strategy is key playing Splinterlands along with perseverance. The game has gotten very competitive but for me personally it provides lots of fun I just can't stop playing.

I have only won 1 battle out of 12 battles, so you are not alone on the losing streak. Losing streak happens in every league and I've notice it is just for few days in a season.

my next quest is just about 5 hours away, so am taking a break till then. I will be back with perseverance, there's no way am giving up.

I will advice you to keep pushing, there is a victory somewhere, dig it out and pull off a couple of victories to push you up the leagues.

Have a good one.

there is a victory somewhere

As I see it, there are no real winners in the Bronze leagues. With all those potion "rewards", no one is really winning. But good luck and have fun. I think twice (or rather more times) about keep playing for nothing (no fun, no real rewards) in the upcoming days. Seriously, where is the fun in a 10 losing streak? I think that nowhere.

I am playing Splinterlands since 2018.12.30, and I have not thought about really stopping, but nowadays it is more and more often coming to my mind.

I still hope that the upcoming changes in the reward system will be good, and that the game will be fair and enjoyable again.

I am not enjoying struggling for hours for nothing. But maybe this is just/only me.

The had this same experience last season, but I kept playing till I broke out of bronze and I realized it wasn’t actually as hard as I thought as I breezed through silver league. I think the hardest level is bronze. Moreover I discovered better strategies and better cards to use. I haven’t played this season, I know the beginning of the season is always tough and I’ve been occupied with other things, I’ll def get back in perhaps today, and ride it all the way back up.

Good luck with it. I take a little break. Maybe I will also keep playing. We will see.

Am on steroid! Are you free for 3 round of challenge?

Have you checked how much you could get from renting your cards? Based on your collection value and since you are struggling within Bronze i guess it would be more profitable for you to focus on renting your cards out.

I don't think you should give up, you just need to refine your strategy. And I'm saying this as someone who has been playing the game for the past 10 days and not since late 2018 like you. What I've noticed in the Bronze leagues is that we are mostly playing bots, so I try to get into that "bot" mindset 😄, and try to emulate what a bot would do with the give mana limit. I was also on a bad losing streak the other day and started skipping the matches, and it definitely makes things worse as you tilt more and more, and generate a ton of loses in just a few mins. I think I dropped from Bronze I to almost Bronze III then but then I got back on track, and I'm currently in Silver II with 200-300 rating above the Silver I threshold (I don't have CP for Silver I). So do not give up, just take it easy. You can't let Skynet win... 😝

The main problem is the fact that it is not worth it to play. Even if I would reach Silver III, which is currently my max tier, the rewards would be still close to (or literally) zero (receiving a bunch of alchemy and legendary potion charges). This is why I decided to lease out my cards instead of playing: Leasing out Splinterlands cards instead of playing (2022.02.06).

Nah, the rewards for Silver III and beyond are not bad at all. Check out my last 2 Silver II dailies:

But yeah, if you really, really do not feel like playing at all, renting your collection out is clearly the best way to go.
