As we all knew that most of the summoner have their own speciality and we can use it for our advantage in battle. One of my favorite summoners is Pyre, well mostly because this is the first summoner we all using in tutorial.
PYRE (Fire Summoner)
As the last of a tribe in forest magicians, Pyre is gifted with skill to increase all friendly speed. This is very important and usefull ability in the battle. Having better speed means you have the opportunity to attack first and if you use the right cards, most of the battle will ended with your victory. At least in the low rank (Bronze League).
When I am talking about the right cards, I don't refers to the epic and legendary cards. So as a beginner, you don't need to rent those cards yet. All the cards I am using are the Started Card with the rarity common and rare only. Even though, in order to earn more DEC you need to have more power.
Power is based on the size and quality of your card collections. It determines your highest possible League Tier. It means that, if you have more cards and the rarest the cards you have, you will have more power.
Splinter Fire Starter Card
As starter cards, you can use these cards anytime without buying or rent it. The downside are these cards won't give you any power to earn more DEC nor to enter the higher Leagues. For example, if you win a battle in Bronze III (power less than 1000), your rewards will be around 15-20 rating poin and 0.150 DEC. So you need at least 7 battles to earn 1 DEC. It will take forever to profit. Therefore, the only way to earn more DEC is to rent or buy the card if you have more budget.
Some of new players have this trials and errors mindset when it comes to pick a cards. I called it learning by doing (I am one of those players). Well, It's not wrong but less effective. Especially in the strategy game like Splinterlands. You not only need strategy in the battle but also before the battle. What cards do you need the most to win the battles with the lowest price.
So back to the topic. How to use Pyre to get the better result in Low Rank battles. For the record, this strategy only work if you fight against low ranker or maybe some mid level ranker.
Because Pyre increase speed for all allied monsters, you need to make sure It's a fast battle.
List of Cards and Positions
1st position : Living Lava
Living Lava is a untamed common monster with 6 healths and 2 shields can make its as a great tanker. It also has a fair melee attack and It has the shield abilities to reduce any melee or range attack from the enemy . The only downside is Living Lava has the slowest speed and It's need 7 mana to use It. This is where Pyre ability play it part.
2nd position : Cerberus
Cerberus don't have shield and It has less health than Living Lava, but Cerberus has heal ability to make up for It. Cerberus also has more speed, and It's only need 4 mana to use it. The more speed Cerberus has (buffed by Pyre ability), the faster It will attack and that means It will heal faster before the enemy monsters attack.
3rd position : Goblin Shaman
Goblin Shaman is very important in this strategy. Using the Weaken ability, Goblin Shaman will reduce the health of enemy monsters. This is the key to have fast battle. The least the enemy health has, the fastest you can kill all the enemy monsters.
Goblin Shaman also has a fair health, so It can avoid being targeted from enemy monsters with the opportunity, snipe or sneak abilities, as long as you put Goblin Shaman in the right position.
4th position : Kobold Miner / Fire Elemental / Serpentine Spy
It is very important to not focus on the enemy in front of you, instead focus to eliminate the enemy behind the line. Because Pyre don't suit in long battles. Therefore, you need to use the Sneak, Opportunity and Snipe monsters or in my case, I prefer to use monsters with Blast ability (depends on mana cap and the enemy compositions). The Sneak ability is to target the last monster of the enemy instead the first monster, which usually has more health and more shield. The Opportunity ability allowed your monsters to attack from any positions and will target the enemy with the lowest health.
As for the Blast ability, It does additional damage to monster adjacent to the target monsters. Like killing birds with one stone. It is very useful if you againts mage monsters with low health.
5th position : Creeping Ooze (depends on mana cap)
Even with the Pyre ability, sometimes there are enemy monsters with high speed, this is where you can use creeping ooze abilty to reduce the enemy speed. To use Creeping Ooze, you just need 1 mana.
last position : Mantoid
Remember, when you're using Pyre, focus on the rear enemy not in front. Therefore you don't only need range monsters with fair range attack, fair speed and also have fair health, but the most important thing is to have snipe ability that allowed It to target the range, magic or no attack monsters that are not in the first position. Mantoid has fulfil all the criterias as a backliner (the last monster). It has fair health so It can withstand the monsters with sneak ability.
By using this composition, I can win 4 out of 5 matches in Bronze League without using epic or legendary monsters.
So, this is my current strategy when I am using Splinter Fire and perhaps if you want to rent the cards, you can rent these monsters to increase your power. It is very affordable for new player with limited budget. You can check on the market for the current price.
Noted that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But the purpose of this game is to having fun.
Pyre is usually so much stronger than Malric ! You can kill Malric monsters before they move. Thx for the post !
