3D Modeling Wood Nymph: Day1+2

in Splinterlands3 years ago

What I imagine would be the most requested card to model, Wood Nymph.
So this will be my first humanoid model from complete scratch. (DoctorBlight was close, but I reused some hands to make the gloves and skull for the staff/cane)

First off, sculpting the basic head and ear shape. Maybe 15min or so.

Face details and adding materials to placehold for textures later. Took a while to get used to using curves (lashes, lip, brows). Lip was a pain to translate to 3d.

After spending way too many hours learning the intracacies of creating hair via bevel+curves, left it here for today.

Day 2

Alright. Time to dive all-in on the hair. My first time trying to model hair and this is the result after about 3-4 hours. I'll probably end up returning to this later to tweak and add in some detail to the bevel. Also took an extra 15min or so to texture paint the eye just to make it nicer to look at while working.

And finally, started sculpting the body. About 25min in.

Many firsts for me. So aside from the sculpting bits, you can tell it's going a bit slow. Next model (or when I feel more comfortable with it) might do a video timelapse.
