Social Media Challenge - What A Crazy Encounter Facing Akane and Zyrx

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. In today's sharing, another crazy encounter that happened in one of the matches I faced this week. This time facing Dragon Summoner Akane leading legendary dragon Zyrx the Emberglace into the battle.

Zyrx The Emberglace

My gosh, this is something that I never expect to see it coming at the current battle rating that I am competing at. This card looks crazily majestic and at level 1 already comes with 2 magic attack and 5 melee attack. Just that it has a little small downside with the Icendiary which deals itself 2 damage each turn and potentially spreading it to adjacent units. And because I know opponent used Akane, I am going to expect this card to be chosen as ambush and give me an additional smash right before the battle starts. Are we are able to find a way to sustain this frontal barrage?

So let's dive right in to today's battle sharing.

Selection Analysis
In today's matchup, there is only 2 choice available to us for this particular match, it is either life or dragon. For me, I prefer life splinter due to the fact that it will be able to give my Ulunds shield to reduce melee/range attack damage from my opponent. At the same time, I do not have a lot of dragon cards to use Dragon splinter as well, so life splinter was a better choice for me.

To lead the lineup, I call upon Bella Ratajowlski, whom is a life splinter ulund bloodline archon that gives deflect to all cards in the lineup and shield to all ulund in the lineup for bloodline dominion. To lead the lineup, I used Ulundin Overseer whom will benefit from Bella's ability and gain shield. Though it did not have any attack, I used Moxian Rebel to weapon train it to gain magic attack and so the next card is indeed Moxian Rebel which is followed by Nimbledook Explorer whom will gain magic attack as well on top of the protect that it gives. This setup in front is to really put up sufficient barrier to allow cards from the rear to slowly wind down opponent card health. The next card in line is Meriput Magician with the tank heal to ensure the front sustains well. And following it will be Mystic Mudbinder whom striks for 2 magic damage and have decent stats. The final card in the lineup is Gallicus which has taunt as I wanna buy time for the frontline by diverting some damage early on to this card.

Opponent used Akane as archon which is a dragon splinter which is a battle tactics archon that can give abilities to cards after card selection, and no doubt it will be choosing ambush to get advantage. First card in opponent lineup of course Zyrx which is looking super intimidating. Next in the lineup is surprisingly Halfling Refugee which I am suspecting is there to soak up potential incendiary spill over. Next in the lineup is Calabash Sage which can strike for 4 range attack. Next up is Pixie Knife Hurler which deals 2 range damage and has close range. Last but not least, it is Silverleaf Ranger which is expected to have double strike but similar to that of Halfling Refugee, can get exhausted.

The biggest headache will be Zyrx and how the hoard of range attackers my opponent had can continuously land damage to my side and wear down my lineup.

Let's go to the round by round synopsis.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Zyrx and Silverleaf Ranger were given the ambush but thankfully didn't do me too much damage as Gallicus and Ulundin Overseer stood up to the challenge and held strong. But when the round started proper, Gallicus whom already did his job fell to a range attack and then all attacks went towards Overseer whom get restored by Meriput Magician.

Round 2 - We manage to lower the health of Zyrx and the burning further reduced its health before Nimbledook Explorer took it out. The lineup stayed relatively in tact as Overseer continued to protect the lineup.

Round 3 - A few exchanges saw Mystic Mudbinder cleared out Halfling Refugee and now things look a little more even.

Round 4-6, Turn by turn, we clear out opponent card one at a time while having Overseer to keep the line and the lineup was in tact till we fully cleared out everything. Victory secured!

Battle Summary
That Akane and Zyrx combination looked really scary at first, but somehow the Shield from Bella Ratajowlski was critical for me as I slowly cleared out my opponents cards one by one. Together with Meriput Magician continuously healing and Overseer's towering health and defence, the lineup sustained all the damage from the relentless arrows from my opponent and outlast them to claim the victory.

My take is that opponent put in all their money on the Zyrx Akane duo to wear me down early and slowly clear me up subsequently but did expect my defence was up to the game and reverse the outcome to score a victory!
