Social Media Challenge - Handling Akane's Tactics

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? Hope all of you are doing good. Time for another battle sharing with the community on some special and memorable matches that I encounter as I play Splinterlands. Today's sharing will be on facing a battle tactics summoner whom is able to deploy some tactics prior to the start of the match to gain additional advantage as additional stats/abilities are being planted onto cards.

Before we dive into the match itself, let us take a look at Akane and what tactics it can give to the lineup.

2 abilities that Akane can choose from to give to the lineup.

Give 1 card Lookout which reduce 1 damage from adjacent cards from opportunity, sneak or snipe attacks.

or

Give 2 cards Ambush, while allows cards to do 1 strike before the match even start.

Both abilities do make serious advantage over opponent, one can bring alot of survivability from sneak, opportunity or snipe while the other just gives you the added advantage to start the match right with the additional strikes which could essentially take out one to two cards depending on what cards are there in opponent lineup. A really good summoner to use if knowing how to make use of the tactics.

Selection Analysis
With the match being Melee Mayhem, I was expecting to face a team that probably is filled with melee cards so let's see how both sides put in their selection.

For me, with a heavy melee lineup expected, I planed an Oshannus as a front tank due to its fast speed and hoping that with the speed, we are able to dodge as many melee attacks as we could. And because we can strike from anywhere for melee, Coastal Sentry is a must due to the value it brings with the double strike. Nerissa Tridawn is chosen due to the great magic value it brings which can easily clear cards. Pelacor Bandit and Igor Darkspear are 2 very good value low mana attackers that I chose to add to my lineup and my lineup ended with a Torrent Fiend.

On my opponent side, opponent came with Akane as summoner and fielded a relatively strong lineup which was spearheaded by Agor Longtail, a very complete card with double attack, flying, taunt and also void armour. To reach the rest of the cards, looks like there is much to be done to clear off Agor. Next card on my opponent lineup is Halfling Refugee which is a super value card at 1 mana with really decent stats. Following which is a series of 3 card combo from Kra'ar Xoc, Moxian Rebel and Merdaali Guardian. Due to Moxian Rebel, the 2 cards adjacent to it gained magic attack and added much more value with Kra'ar having scavenge and Merdaali having tank heal to heal up Agor. Opponent final card is Swamp Spitter which can repair the broken armour on Agor which will further improve its survivability.

Opponent's key strategy was to keep Agor alive for as long as he can maintain and Akane added ambush to Agor and Halfling Refugee which will give them the extra strikes at the start of the match. I am not expecting this to be an easy match due to the way my opponent shape up his lineup. So let's get right on to the battle.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Game on. I didn't expect this kind of bombardment that was given to Oshannus yet I didn't manage to do sufficient damage onto my opponent, whom looked relatively unscathed. The backline support onto Akane is crazy, good work there by my opponent.

Round 2 - Considering the amount of attacks thrown onto Oshannus, most tanks might not have even survived but amazingly Oshannus was able to hold off till this stage. But the good thing is that my cards are doing their part and shaving down the health of Agor Longtail, bring it down to a much lower value than we first started.

Round 3 - Pardon me, as there were some glitch in the screenshots earlier where it will always show one round ahead of the actual rounds but in subsequent screenshots they are ok. So this round, we manage to clear out Agor Longtail through Coastal Sentry and things started going south for my opponent as my cards started their rampage down the lineup and also taking out Halfling Refugee.

Round 4, Bit by bit, my cards cleared my opponent ones and finally down to their last 2 cards with Oshannus finally fell to a hit from Swamp Spitter after doing an awesome job to hold the line from those massive bombardment.

Round 5, The match was all settle this round with Coastal Sentry and Pelacor Bandit doing work to clear up the last 2 cards and bring home the victory after a hard fought battle.

Battle Summary
The massive bombardment created by Akane was no joke, I was able to fend it off thanks to the massive resilience by Oshannus. The Agor Longtail support line my opponent deployed was crazy too, thankfully I was up to the game and had my strong hitters to sustain the pressure.

Wrap Up
A really nice game for me to witness how strong a combo that Akane can bring about to the match and giving me so much bombardment right on the first round. A nice match to remember and learn from.
