Splinterlands: How could a level 5 player make such a childish mistake?πŸ”₯

I think, whether we're talking about Splinterlands or life in general, a better player is identified by their personality even before their skills. While it's true that skill matters, your personality also plays a crucial role in that journey. Just last night, in one of my battles, I saw a level 5 player make a very basic mistake. Generally, in Splinterlands, you gradually improve and become a better player by levelling up through experience and skill. As far as I understand, the important rules for success here are learned during the struggles of level one, such as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of attack powers, the meaning and use of stats, the importance of rulesets, and so on. Without this understanding, you can't even think about progressing, because, as I often say, the landscape in Splinterlands is constantly changing, meaning there are no shortcuts to success.

So, obviously, you wouldn't expect a level 5 player to make the kind of mistakes that are taught right at the beginning when you first start playing Splinterlands. In a battle I had late last night, my opponent was a level 5 player. As soon as I saw him on the battlefield, I had already accepted defeat even before the battle began. But I usually watch every single one of my battles to the end; that's my way of learning and improving myself. Well, in the screenshot above, you can see the levels of not only my and my opponent's Archons, but also all the cards in our teams. I would also suggest taking a look at the ruleset for this battle, and then once again at my opponent's selected cards.

If you have even a basic understanding of this game, you'll know how crucial it is to understand the rulesets before team selection. In this battle, the ruleset was Fire and Regret, which means all units have return fire (returns 50% of range damage to the attacker). With just one rule set, and a very simple one at that, I was sure I didn't need any ranged attackers in my team for this battle, because 50% of the damage from each successful attack would be returned back to the attacker, resulting in unnecessary damage to my own team. But my opponent ignored this simple ruleset and added two ranged attackers to his team, which was essentially playing with fire.

This in itself was a big mistake, but in addition, he didn't even use his Archon's special abilities. Our Archons were the same; I chose to use my Archon's powers to give +2 melee power to two of my cards, but my opponent didn't use his Archon's powers at all. Although I can consider this a mistake because sometimes the game freezes, and the time runs out before you can decide where and how you want to use your Archon's power. I've experienced this myself many times, but ignoring the simple rules doesn't seem like a mistake to me. Whatever the reason, as a result, despite having a far superior team, my opponent lost the battle.

While every battle you play teaches you something, some battles are special because they show you the consequences of ignoring the basics. Therefore, I recommend that you watch this battle at least once!😎

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!πŸ”₯

Adhering to rulesets is crucial in Splinterlands for optimal team selection and winning battles. Rulesets modify gameplay mechanics, so ignoring them, like using ranged attackers under Fire and Regret, leads to self-damage from Return Fire, which returns 50% of ranged damage (rounded up) to the attacker.

I really enjoyed watching the battle @untilwelearn with the link. At the end, it turned out to a mismatch because you still had 5 cards that survived πŸ˜‚
