There have been many moments during this time when I've taken steps towards improving in this game. There's no single hidden secret or trick that, once discovered, instantly transforms an average player into a pro overnight. You learn things every day, with every battle, and some of these lessons challenge your previous understanding, guiding you down a different path in the game. So there have been many moments when I thought that by improving in this way, or by learning this, or by adding this card/Archon to my deck, I would dominate Splinterlands. But honestly, that's not how it works, because learning and improving is a processes. You can't simply learn a few tricks and expect to navigate this vast ocean of a game, because the tides are constantly shifting.

Initially, and for quite a long time, I too would look at other players' powerful cards or newly launched cards and abilities and think, "If only I had those, I would dominate this game." This is an inner thought that I think many new players will resonate with, but the real turning point comes when you realize that all of this was just part of your daydreaming. And this can happen at different times for each individual player. For me, this turning point came when I added some powerful cards to my own deck, such as my first purchased Grey melee card, Pallus, or Commander Slade with the Water element's Enfeeble ability, or the Life element's magic card, Harbinger of Chaos, with its Divine Shield ability, and many others. While purchasing them, I felt that the game would now be completely under my control.

Because I had seen the mind-blowing performances of these cards many times before, and I had tested them extensively before adding them to my deck, I was even more confident. And indeed, my performance improved significantly. But if I had to pinpoint the most crucial turning point, I would say it was when I realised that you're not underperforming in this game simply because you don't have powerful cards, but rather because of your weak understanding of the game mechanics. So, no matter how many powerful cards you include in your deck, until you understand the elements, rulesets, abilities, different cards, and how to use their stats and combinations to their fullest potential, you won't be able to achieve sustainable and consistent growth in this game.

Which isn't difficult at all, provided you're focused on doing it. I mean, if you just want to casually play this game and have no intention of progressing, that's a different story. Otherwise, to understand this game, you just need to pay a little attention to your own battles. By watching each of your battles, you can see the real-time performance of every power and combination used, which shows you how even a wrong lineup can render a super card almost useless, while a correct lineup can turn your ordinary cards into a nightmare for your opponent.

So, ever since this turning point in my Splinterlands journey, I've started to be impressed by clever strategies rather than just being tempted by better cards. While having better cards is certainly important, without a shrewd strategic mind, you won't be able to do much, even with the most powerful cards. So, in short, understand the nuances of the game; it's both fun and rewarding.

Splinterlands is no easy place, and that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. Powers working in perfect synergy are what make a strategy successful, so add good cards to your deck, but also work on developing a better understanding of the rulesets and other in-game mechanics, and strive to win as many battles as possible. 🔥
