Battle report: Winning with dragon and water

in Splinterlands9 days ago (edited)

I'm usually excited when using a dragon summoner because it means I get to fight using two elements. This battle was more interesting because it had the target practice ruleset, which meant all magic and ranged attack monsters in this battle automatically gained the snipe ability. The mana cost was 45.

My summoner was Lily Shieldpaw.

Since this was a dragon summoner, I had to pick an extra element to choose monsters from. I went with the water element.

In the first position, I put hardy stonefish.

Although this is a melee attack monster, this is not the typical monster you put in the first position. However, this was strategic for me. I put this monster there to draw some attention and take some hits for the team while it also attacks. It has a health of 2 but this health increases due to the buff from the summoner. What's more interesting is that this monster costs just 1 mana.

In the second position, I put the monster that I actually wanted to be the main tank, Djinn Chwala.

This is a crucial card for me because of its stats. It has the health and armor to withstand the attack faced by a tank when Hardy Stonefish gets eliminated. It's thorns ability makes it even a dangerous monster to the opponent.

Torrent Fiend occupied the third position.

I usually put this monster to add to the numbers since it costs 0 mana. However, it does have the capacity to cause problems for the opponent especially as its health is increased because of my summoner.

I put Chaos Dragon in the fourth position.

This is one of the influential monsters on my team. You can see that its health stands at a whooping 10, combined with armors. In addition to that, it is a magic attack monster with an attack power of 3.

Nerissa Tridawn occupied the fifth position.

This has become one of my favorite monsters. With a magic attack power of 3, it will always cause mayhem for the enemy team.

Occupying the last position was flying squid.

I love this monster because of its reach ability which lets it attack from any position despite the fact that it is a melee attack monster. In addition to that, it also has abundant health.

My opponent used Obsidian as summoner. The line up includes Mycelic Infantry, Mycelic Slipspawn, Blackmoor Wild elf, Goblin Psychic, Goblin Tower and Halaran Huntress

The battle was a close one. My tank was eliminated and before I knew it, I was down three monsters. However I was able to take out a few enemy monsters. As expected, those of my monsters with poor health stats were first eliminated, but they didn't go down without causing some damage. Djinn Chwala, which was my intended tank came under so much fire when it occupied the first position, that it was quickly eliminated. Eventually, it was Five enemy monsters against my remaining 3, which were Chaos Dragon, Nerissa Tridawn and Flying squid. Those three proved too formidable and were able to win me the battle.
