This is a guide to Splinterlands (HIVE) Play to Earn rewards, focusing specifically on the play to earn mechanics of winning ranked battles, daily quest rewards, and season end rewards. How much do you really make playing to earn in Splinterlands? Watch and/or read to find out more.
Ranked Battle Rewards
When you play ranked battles you earn DEC for every win. You can play ranked battles by ensuring that the box in the red circle in the image below says ranked. Then you click "Battle" and you will be placed in a queue for your battle.
Since I've started playing, I have earned between 6-50 DEC per battle. At $.003 USD per DEC, that's between $.02-.15 per win. If you play 26 battles a day, winning 13, you make between $.36-2.00 USD playing Splinterlands.
There are a few ways to boost your DEC earnings:
- Win streaks (3 or more wins in a row) give you increased DEC
- You receive 10% DEC bonuses for every golden foil and Alpha card you play in that battle
- Guilds offer bonuses based on the level of your lodge. You can see that The Furious Chickens are currently receiving a 2% DEC bonus from our lodge.
The beautiful thing about Splinterlands is that you own everything you earn, whether it's an NFT or crypto tokens. This means you are rewarded for the time you put into the game, unlike other online games like Hearthstone, where you can't sell your in game assets.
Daily Quest
Every 24 hours you have the opportunity to complete a daily quest. As you can see in the picture below, I just finished the neutral monster quest and received three Chests as a reward.

Here is a list of all possible daily quests:

- Fire Quest - Win 5 ranked battles with the Fire Splinter.
- Death Quest - Win 5 ranked battles with the Death Splinter.
- Life Quest - Win 5 ranked battles with the Life Splinter.

- No Neutral Quest - Win 3 ranked battles without any Neutral cards.

Season Rewards
A season lasts between 12-16 days in Splinterlands, and at the end you receive a number of chests based on the league you are in. In Novice, you don't win any chests. Starting at Bronze 3 you earn 5 all the way up to 150 at max league rankings.
To see how many chests you can earn, click on the league button circled in the image below, then click on the highest league you are able to attain based on your card power.
Here is an example of what season end rewards look like at Gold 1
Not bad at all! But what typicall comes in a chest?
Chest Contents
According to the white paper, the odds for cards, potions, and DEC are equal at 33% and the odds of receiving a Chaos Legion Pack (while they are still available) is 1%. Huge thanks to @groentje for more precise information on just how likely you are to get Chaos Legion Packs from chests. Check out their post here for more accurate information: Likelihood of Chaos Legion Packs Based on League Ranking

This is AMAZING! I hadn't seen that chart before. Thanks for sharing that! I updated the article and added your name and article as reference. Thanks again for this great information!
I think the data you have is outdated, I think lands are not available in loot chests anymore.
I took that screenshot from the roadmap on Peakmonsters, and you are correct in saying that they are no longer available. I am not trying to communicate that they are available, I just learned that they WERE available and thought it was super interesting.
