Intro
This post is all about Brawl rewards! You receive Brawl rewards during the "Results Stage" of your Brawl. This is after you have filled your frays, fought your battles, and earned glory and honor... hopefully!
If you don't know what Brawl is or how to play in one, check out my beginner’s guide to brawls, check here: https://www.splintertalk.io/@trashdragon/beginner-s-guide-splinterlands-brawls
Rewards
There are two different kinds of rewards you can earn in a Brawl, merits and crowns. Merits are individual rewards split evenly amongst all guild participants. Crowns are a guild-wide reward held in yourr guild coffers and usable by guild leaders to upgrade buildings and buy items. At the end of the Brawl, you receive a guild announcement informing you of your total crowns and merits earned in your previous Brawl.
Merits
Merits are untradable rewards each individual guild member earns from Brawls. Before you can earn merits, you must have a level one store and submit a team for every battle in your fray. How many merits you receive at the conclusion of a Brawl is based on a number of factors:
- Crowns Earned, the total crowns earned in a given Brawl
- Brawl Tier, measured in stars (the in-game formula uses the number of frays in a given Brawl, which is directly linked to the Brawl tier). To find your Brawl Tier, navigate to your guild's Brawl tab and look at the stars to the left of the word "Active." This will show you how many stars your Brawl is. The number of filled in stars communicates the level of your Brawl. The image below shows The Furious Chickens participating in a level 1 Brawl.
- Guild Store level. Each upgrade beyond the first level gives you a 20% Merit Bonus percentage increase as shown in the picture below. It also unlocks the ability to buy Brawl specific items in your store. More on that in a future post!
Crowns
Crowns are a guild resource usable by guild leaders for leveling up buildings and guild-wide Brawl items. The first thing you can use crowns for as a leader is leveling up your Barracks and Store. If you look at the picture above, you can seee that a level 2 Store upgrade requires 40 crowns, a level 3 upgrade requires 100, and so on. The Barracks has the same crown requirements per level as the Store.
If your guild consistently battles in Brawls, you will easily earn the necesarry crowns for early level building upgrades.
The second thing guild leaders can spend crowns on are Spy Glasses. Spy glasses are unlocked at store level 4 and allow you to see Fray assignments from all other guilds! You can use one Spy glass per Brawl and they are only 5 crowns. This is an absolute steal, and I will be purchasing one for every Brawl The Furious Chickens participate in once our store reaches level 2.
What can I buy with my merits?
Gladius Cases - You can use merits in your guild store to purchase items such as Gladius Cases, which are packs containing cards only usable in Brawls. These cards count toward your total power when calculating how high you can climb in ranked play.
As you can see, you must have a level 2 store and 2,000 merits to purchase a Gladius Case. I am excited for a future post when I can speak to the experience of finally purchasing a Gladius Case!
Power Stone - These boost your chances of pulling a gold foil from Gladius Cases and are used automatically when opening a Gladius Case. I'll need to save up some extra merits before I open my first Gladius case! You need a level 4 store to purchase a Power Stone.
Blood Stone - Blood Stones double the chance of getting a Legendary card from Gladius Cases and are automatically used when opening Gladius Cases. You need a level 6 store to purcahse a Blood Stone.
Conclusion
There are some fun, exclusive items available for use in Brawls and I, for one, am excited to get my hands on them, especially those Gladius Cases. The Furious Chickens are still a ways off from gaining a level 2 store, but rest assured I'll be back with a post about Gladius Cases when we get there.
Until then, Grind on my friends, and have a great day!
