CLOSE RANGE
In the previous challenge, the ranged attack monsters were on the sidelines but this time around, they're back with a very special ability. Normally, ranged attacks cannot be done if the unit is in the first position but this time around, no ranged unit has that limitation. Now, these units cannot just be forced to the front as a way to make them powerless.
The Combat Rules
COMBAT RULES | |
---|---|
MODIFICATIONS | CLOSE RANGE, TIS BUT SCRATCHES |
ACTIVE SPLINTERS | LIFE, DEATH, DRAGON |
This combination of rulesets is not difficult to work with. The one thing that might make this battle tough would be the low mana cap. I will have to use a good lineup of low mana units. Let's see how it's going to look like.
LINEUP
SUMMONER | |
---|---|
NAME | QUIX THE DEVIOUS |
SPLINTER | DRAGON |
EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
RARITY | LEGENDARY |
LEVEL | 2 |
MANA COST | 4 |
BUFFS | -1 RANGED ATTACK, -1 SPEED |
I don't plan to use ranged units in this battle so it would not make sense to use General Sloan as a summoner. Instead, I decided to play Quix and take advantage of the -1 speed debuff. Also, I can affect enemy ranged units if there are any.
UNIT 1 | |
---|---|
NAME | GARGOYA SCRAPPER |
SPLINTER | LIFE |
EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
RARITY | COMMON |
LEVEL | 5 |
MANA COST | 1 |
ATTACK | 1X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 3X |
HEALTH | 2X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | VOID |
First on the line is the Gargoya Scrapper with the void armor. This guy is not any type of tank in this situation but he will act as a dummy unit to take any hits that will be targeted at the frontline. If he gets to attack, then it's all good.
UNIT 2 | |
---|---|
NAME | SOUL FIEND |
SPLINTER | LIFE |
EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
RARITY | LEGENDARY |
LEVEL | 2 |
MANA COST | 0 |
ATTACK | 1X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 3X |
HEALTH | 1X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | NONE AT LVL 1 |
Soul Fiend is the second dummy unit on the lineup. You can hardly go wrong with a 0 mana card like this one. He will take any blast damage, opportunity or whatever. I don't expect him to attack at all.
UNIT 3 | |
---|---|
NAME | STITCH LEECH |
SPLINTER | LIFE |
EDITION | CHAOS LEGION |
RARITY | COMMON |
LEVEL | 5 |
MANA COST | 3 |
ATTACK | 3X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 2X |
HEALTH | 4X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | SNEAK |
Now, the true attackers are going to be summoned. The first true attack is Stitch Leech with the sneak attack. My strategy is to take out the backline first with sneak attacks and I've decided to use this unit because of the 3x melee attack.
UNIT 4 | |
---|---|
NAME | DHAMPIR INFILTRATOR |
SPLINTER | DRAGON |
EDITION | REWARD |
RARITY | RARE |
LEVEL | 4 |
MANA COST | 4 |
ATTACK | 2X MELEE ATTACK |
SPEED | 3X |
HEALTH | 3X |
TOUGHNESS | 0 |
ABILITIES | SNEAK, DOUBLE STRIKE |
Last on the line is this unit right here with the double strike. The Dhampir Infiltrator is a good unit to use when you want to launch successive sneak attacks so I have decided to summon her. I hope she performs well.
The Battle Highlights
My Element | Enemy's Element |
---|---|
Round 1:
- Quix The Devious reduces the speed of all enemy units. There are no ranged units on either side and so Sloan just sits there and does nothing.
- Dhampir Infiltrator starts the battle by taking out the Gargoya Scrapper at the back and wounding the Celestial Harpy.
- My Gargoya Scrapper kills the enemy's Soul Fiend.
- My Stitch Leech finishes off the Celestial Harpy.
- The enemy's Stitch Leech takes out the Dhampir Infiltrator.
Round 2:
- Gargoya Scrapper starts the battle with an attack on the Pelacor Conjurer.
- Stitch Leech wastes no time to take out his evil double on the other side.
Round 3-4:
- Pelacor Conjurer stands as the last unit on the opposing and, since he cannot attack, he just stands there and takes hit after hit until he is defeated.

CONCLUSION
So, in this battle, I was not affected by the ruleset because I did not let it interfere with my strategy. It was a simple sneak attack strategy and it worked.
Dhampir Infiltrator was taken out but not before she was able to do some serious damage to the enemy's team. This unit is a favorite among players because of how effective she is but her low health makes her vulnerable. Thankfully, she was not killed before she could do some damage.
The strategy of making the enemy units slower with Quix was a great idea. For one, it made Celestial Harpy lose the chance to attack before Stitch Leech who took the unit out. On the other side, the enemy's General Sloan was not very useful because there were no ranged attackers on that side.
