Discussion - Hive Engine Adoption and Splinterlands Growth

Hey SPL Fam,

I'm a relatively new player (battling since October '21), and I'm absolutely loving the game, the community, and I think it's super underrated/underappreciated outside its own social circles. I love learning more about the game and the Hive ecosystem, so I'm curious if you think the game's growth has slowed recently because of the game itself or more to do with lack of awareness for Hive? (Or maybe growth hasn't slowed and I'm being short sighted?)

I haven't seen too many posts, articles, or buzz about Hive engine in communities like r/cryptocurrency or r/NFT. Not even sure this is a big deal since those communities seem to be pushing pump and dump stuff a lot, but still just a thought I had being new here. Wondering if it's just a nicely kept secret or if people are avoiding it for specific reasons?

Noob question about blockchains - Are there benefits to the game running on Hive vs another blockchain or is it as simple as this is where the game was made and it's just grandfatherd in? I love Hive, and find it super easy to use, I'm just genuinely curious and honestly haven't used other blockchains to be fully transparent.

This also brings me back to the comment about the reddit communities above where you see posts like "oh, NFTs are dumb and have no utility...if only there were game companies that made good use of NFTs" and I'm sitting there reading those like...have you not heard of Hive and Splinterlands? I'll sometimes comment but get crickets.

So, I go back to the question of - have most people heard about it and just gave it a pass? or do most of you here think we are early and it's a nicely kept secret?

Hopefully this wasn't too scatterbrained or taken as FUD. I'm in it for long run because the game is so fun, and I love actually owning the stuff I use to play with. Again, I could simply be thinking too short sighted...maybe some people think the game growth isn't slowing at all? I'd love to hear everyone’s thoughts either way <3

I was feeling lucky yesterday, decided to open some packs and pulled my first GFL out of a career 160 pack openings...I was HYPED. Thank you, SPL Devs, for the work and sweat you put into this game. I know I can speak for the community when I say we appreciate the passion you all put into the game...it shows!
