Daily Focus, a perspective from someone with minimal cards.

So the new reward system is up and running and todays focus is with the Life Splinter.

Before I even start I need to set the scene for you.

When I started playing Splinterlands initially I just bought the starter cards that enabled you to play and the plan was to play to earn and slowly level up just using my rewards to progress through the game this is still the case now. After a month or so of playing the game I bought 2 Chaos Legion packs which gave me a hand full of common cards & possibly a rare, In total I now currently own 32 cards that I have bought with credits or DEC that I’ve earned in the game, from staked SPS or the HIVE I’ve made from this blog.

So basically I don’t have masses of top cards to play with nor do I have the funds to buy them.

Previously with the Daily Quest like everyone else I would play the starter cards & my own cards to win it but straight away now if I use the stater cards for the Daily Focus I’m at a disadvantage as for every starter card I play a percentage of Focus points are deducted from that battle, as shown below you can see I lost 25% of my reward here. If you were only to play with starter cards you would lose 100% of any Focus Points.

So this now only leaves me with the 32 cards that I own to play across all the Splinters my best Deck is The Death splinter but this was only because I started to collect gold foiled cards for it.

This is where we now have change our game play, I have Life as my focus today and the recommendation is to go and rent out good cards that will allow me to win in this splinter as I don’t have many of my own cards. This is only possible if you have the DEC or credits to do this or you have spent loads of money on building your deck in the past and you can just beast your way through the game taking out all competition (not sounding bitter am I).

And this is what I rented out to help me win or at least not get reductions of my Focus points.

In total these cost me just under 20 DEC to rent out for 1 day, my view on this is that I now need to be able to win rewards that are equal to this or greater to make it worth renting cards out in the first place, remember this for later. Also apart from one summoner the cards I rented are all part of the starter pack the not gold or rare cards etc. that would cost more.

And this is where the fun begins, I now had just under 24hrs to win at life focus and earn reward chests.
As Splinterlands want you to play longer and you now have too to win rewards my ERC rate is completely wiped out and was at around 20% at the time. I was in Bronze 3 and at the lower end of this I was only receiving maybe 2 or 3 Season & Focus points, only by moving up in to Bronze 2 and staying there was I then able win between 5 -12 points in each battle. The downside to this was that to stay there I had to play my Death splinter a lot of the time to maintain my league rating above 400 and this means I’m not using my Life Splinter and not winning FP.

To cut a long story short because it was extremely long, I battled for easily 15hrs yesterday to only win 1 focus chest. Now you would hope that for the amounted of time invested, DEC spent etc. That this reward would be F***ing amazing. Well this morning I collected that reward, It was…… drum roll 1 Alchemy potion yes that right 1 Alchemy potion.

A potion that Is no good to me I can’t do anything with it, I can’t sell it I can’t swap it, I’m not buying Chaos legion packs so it’s no good to me at this time.

At least in the Daily Quests when I won a potion like this the time money and effort was no way near as great as what was required for the new reward system. Needless to say I’m not impressed with the rewards at the moment as like I have said before it allows the rich to get richer, if your new to the game and don’t have the time & money it’s likely to put you off playing.

The only bonus I guess was that for the amount of time spent playing I earned 2 season chests, hopefully they will be more rewarding than the Daily Focus reward.

On the other side I guess if you can invest lots into the game then you are going to be equally rewarded if not better??? It comes back to the old saying “ you’ve got to Speculate to accumulate”

I just find it frustrating that if you want to play the game and level up by playing and not by buying your way up, then this change has just made it harder.
