Introduction
Hi! @saydie here playing Splinterlands everyday.
This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards including thier subsets such as Riftwatchers and the Reward cards, as they brought new abilities and strategies that changes how the game was played.
last time, I have talked about Life rewards and how I think that they are the next most powerful rewards set only next to the Water rewards with cards like Pelacor Conjurer who was a very good tank for only 2 mana cost and we also have Jared Scar which is really great on rule sets where it can attack at any position as for each monster it defeats, all of its stats increases because of the Bloodlust ability. Now. lets take a look on the old Death rewards but before that, here are the new Death Soulbound reward cards that we could on our daily and season chest.
Some of the abilities from this cards have been change while they are being played at the test server but appearance- wise, this is how they looked.

Death Rewards in Action
Battle 1: Pelacor Deceiver
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Silver League Modern Format | 13 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Earth, Death Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_4f4ac4db15313eae6f7a0979f1765dac&ref=saydie |
Ferocity | All Monsters have the Fury ability. |
Odd Ones Out | Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles. |
For this 13 mana battle, we have Ferocity rule set so using Taunt monsters will be disadvantageous and only odd mana cost monsters can be used because we also have Odd Ones Out. I have chosen Pelacor Deceiver as my tank since for low mana cost, it has huge health and can dodge melee and range attacks just as what how it evades the attack from Hill Giant.
Battle 2: Ever-hungry Skull and Venari Bonesmith
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Diamond League Modern Format | 21 Mana Cap Available Elements:Fire, Death, Dragon Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_1b631353a1d4a1a0eedc6e82c9b95f7f&ref=agonyaccepted |
Healed Out | All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners. |
Equalizer | The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. |
For the 2nd battle, we have a 21 mana cap match with Healed Out rule set which means healing abilities cannot be used but all monsters have their health the same as we have Equalizer. I placed Ever- hungry Skull for my tank since originally it only had 1 health but with the rule set in play it's health increased and together with its 11 armor, it can be very hard to kill if the opponent only has melee and range monsters and it got Thorns and Return Fire that will damage them if they ever attack it just like when Carrion Shade attack it.
As for Venari Bonesmith, it can gain more health when it reduced the health of the opponent and has 50% chance to inflict Poison on the opponent and lose health as time passes.
Battle 3: Revealer and Harklaw
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Gold League Wild Format | 22 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Death, Dragon Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_89a723daa47904a86791f2ee5706e2b0&ref=bltzr-wizard-726 |
Super Sneak | All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability. |
Noxious Fumes | All Monsters start the battle Poisoned. |
Tis But Scrathes | All Melee attack Monsters have the Cripple ability. |
For this 22 mana cap battle, we have Super Sneak that allows melee monster to attack back- line opponents and Tis But Scratches that will reduce the max health of the target enemy on a Noxious Fumes rule set where every monster were poisoned except for those with the Immunity ability just like Revealer and Harklaw which made my monsters unaffected by any negative status effects and with Revealer attacking using magic, it can avoid the opponent's armor and directly attack its health, making it easier to defeat them and to possibly stun them just like what it did on Antoi Platton which will make it unable to attack for a turn.
As for Harklaw, it reduces the melee attacks of the opponents while also reducing the attack that it can received using melee and range monsters with Shield ability like when it received only 3 attack from Forbidden One whos attack was 5. It is also immune to negative status effects so it cannot be poisoned nor crippled.
Final Thoughts
The Death element also has some good monsters with. Venari Bonesmith can be a good substitute if one doesn't have Dr. Blight when fighting using Death team. Pelacor Deceiver is also good with odd mana rule set and Harklaw when it's even and the only reason why its rarely played was because of Cursed Windeku with Thorns and Heal ability. Ever- Hungry Skull can be a monster with Equalizer rule set and Revealer is also a must have card for it's Stun ability and it also has Reflection Shield which can be very handy when fighting opponents or rule sets with indirect or reflected damage.
