After you bought a Splinterlands spellbook what will you do next? How will I earn from it. These are some of the most frequent questions that come to mind of new players. Well, you need to know how to play first and when you're good at it, profit will come along. So without further ado let's get started. If you haven't skipped the in game tutorial well you already know some of the basics about the game. If you do, don't worry I got you covered.
Upon receiving your Spellbook you can start playing the game but first you need to know the basics. You will have starter cards that are free to play but you don't own it so won't be able to sell it. Starter cards have an "S" sign banner on the card (see photo) when you check it on your card deck. Also there are two kinds of cards: Summoner (left) and monster (right).
Summoner -A monster who possesses one of six vital forces that also determines what monsters you can summon in battle.
Monster -A creature or human that can be summoned to battle. Monsters that actually fight in game.
As you can see there are numbers on the cards.
- Mana - The summoners or monsters mana value.
- Attack - Damage deal by monsters. It can be melee, range or magic.
- Speed - Value of how often the monster will attack.
- Shield - First to take damage unless the opponent uses magic.
- Life - Value of a monster's health.
- Skill - A monster's ability but not all monsters had one.
- Buff - Your summoner's buff that affects your whole team or debuffs the enemies.
- Monster Level - Stars indicate the level of the summoner and monster. You won't be able to summon monsters beyond your summoners level.
There are 7 elements called Splinter that compose Fire, Water, Earth , Life, Death, Dragon and Neutral. Shown in the image below in order.
Now, you are ready to play. There are 4 types of In game battle. How to Play, Practice, Ranked, Challenge.
How to play - Self explanatory. This is where you learn.
Practice - Play and strategize your team without affecting your rank.
Ranked - Earn DEC on each win. The higher the rank the higher you get.
Challenge - Invite a friend or challenge someone and see who's the boss.
After you click ranked, it will load and look for an opponent and when you get one an in-game mechanic will appear that is shown below.
- Elements Allowed - There are times that your favorite elements are not allowed for the match. So better to learn different elements so you can be flexible in battle.
- Mana Cap - It is the cap size of the team you are going to build. It can be low but not more than. Best is to maximize the cap size and plan your team the best you can that fits it.
- Modification - The key element of the game where you need to modify your team base on it. Image shows no modification so it is good. There are times like the elements they won't allow in game. Like all melee, all range, no magic ,no armor etc so you really need to be careful when there is a modification.
That is all to it I believe. Now, you are more ready to take that 1st battle. Good luck and as always enjoy the game while you earn!
