Clip the Wings of Flying Units and Make Them Helpless with the Snare Ability | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

in Splinterlands5 days ago

Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will talk about Snare Ability, Flying Ability and the Earthquake Ruleset, and more, as well as an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.

Snare Ability

  • Snare Ability : When attacking enemies with Flying, removes the Flying ability and cannot miss.

Units with the Flying Ability have a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability. In battles, Units with Flying Ability may be very difficult to hit, and sometimes even frustrating. However, Flying Units have no chance of evading attacks from Units with Snare Ability, so Snare Ability is the easiest way to hunt them down.

When a Unit with Snare Ability attacks a Flying Unit, it removes the Flying Ability it has and cannot miss. And its first attack has a 100% chance of hitting flying Units, meaning they will lose their Flying Ability on its first attack. Meanwhile, the attacking Units with Snare Ability will always continue hit this same Unit 100% of the time, even when the Flying ability is removed. Snare Ability is a really frustrating ability for Flying Units.

However, Snare can be Cleansed with the Cleanse Ability. And if a Flying Unit is snared, dies, and is revived, the Snare is removed and must be reapplied.

If I feel that my opponent will use Flying Units, I take care to include the Snare Ability in my lineup. Especially in battles where there is an Earthquake Ruleset, I attach great importance to including the Snare Ability in my lineup.

In battles with the Earthquake ruleset, all non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn, so many players, including myself, place great emphasis on using Flying Units to avoid damage each round. In such battles, it is very useful to include a Unit with the Snare Ability in the team.

If I remember correctly, there are 25 cards with the Snare Ability, 2 of which are Summoner cards.

Vera Salacia grants all friendly Units Snare. Eternal Tofu is a Legendary Dual Element Tactics Summoner from the Rebellion set. Eternal Tofu can summon Units from the Earth and Life and grants Snare Ability, Thorns Ability and +2 health, to all friendly Units. And you get to choose between granting three Units Corrosive Ward and Divine Shield, or one Unit Triage and Scavenger. Having the Eternal Tofu and Vera Salacia Summoner cards can be a huge advantage in some battles, but Vera Salacia is only playable in Wild format.

Let's see some of what I explained above in a battle.

Battle Ruleset

  • Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
  • Ferocity: All Monsters have the Fury ability.

Fury ability : This Unit does double damage to targets with the Taunt ability.

According to the ruleset of the battle, all monsters in this battle will have the Fury Ability and Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. Therefore, in this battle, using Units with Taunt Ability will be a disadvantage, while using Flying Units to avoid damage in each round will be quite useful.

In this battle, I added 3 Monsters with Flying Ability to my team and I also added the other 3 Monsters to my team because I believed that they would be useful to my team with their abilities. I could guess that the opposing player would also add Monsters with Flying Ability to their team, so I included Snare Ability in my lineup.

Venari Marksrat is a Monster that has both Snare Ability and Martyr Ability, and I can say that I prefer it because of its Martyr Ability. Because if the target has Flying ability, it will remove its Flying ability when attacking and will not miss, and also when it dies, adjacent Units will get +1 to all stats.

I also included some abilities in my lineup, such as Void, Magic Reflect, Repair and Resurrect, which I believe will be very useful in this battle.

BATTLE COMMENTS

When I saw the opposing team, I wasn't surprised at all, especially when I saw level 2 Uriel the Purifier. Honestly, I thought about adding Uriel the Purifier to my team too, but I gave up because it cost 11 mana. Instead, I believed that I could win this battle with monsters that cost less mana.

The Snare Ability disrupted the opposing player's strategy, and since Uriel the Purifier lost the Flying Ability, it also took 2 Melee damage at the end of each round like the non-flying monsters, making it much easier to destroy.

And in the second round Uriel the Purifier was destroyed but the Resurrect Ability brought it back to life with 1 Health and although Snare was cleansed there was no escape from Snare Ability. And immediately after it was brought back to life, Venari Marksrat attacked it and removed its Flying Ability again.

And Uriel the Purifier was destroyed once again in the third round. Frankly, if I didn't have the Snare Ability in my lineup in such a battle, it wouldn't have been easy to destroy Uriel the Purifier, who had Void Armor, Heal and Flying abilities, twice in such a short time, which is exactly why I included the Snare Ability in my lineup.

After Uriel the Purifier died, Adelade Brightwing took the first position and Snare removed its Flying ability as well.

The battle only lasted 4 rounds and my team managed to win the battle. The most interesting thing was that at the end of the battle, all the monsters in the team were still alive, even Non-flying monsters on my team managed to survive. To be honest, I didn't expect to win this battle so easily, but the Snare Ability was very useful in this battle and made it easier to destroy the Monsters with Flying ability in the first position on the opposing team. This is exactly why I place great importance on including Snare Ability in my lineup in these types of battles.
