Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Djinn Apprentice

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Djinn Apprentice from the Fire Splinter....

At level one this is a pretty decent card - 5 mana for 2 magic damage and 4 health which is OK, and the low speed doesn't matter so much for magic as magic doesn't miss.

Downsides are that magic isn't really the favoured attack with the Fire splinter and you get no buffs at L1!

The battle below features a Level 1 Djinn Apprentice playing his part in a solid victory!

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap 99
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Conquerer Jack

  1. Magnor - an awesome taunt card!
  2. Caladum - massive damage and a great second tank
  3. Djinn Apprentice - the feature card and decent magic
  4. Phoenix Elemental - more magic damage
  5. Magi of Chaos - yet more magic damage
  6. Countess Sinash - mixing it up with some Ranged attack damage and camouflage!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - I get lucky with a scattershot blast on the Goblin, taking out that goody two shoes healer in round one, NICE!
  • Round 2 - I lose my Magnor, but I've got a decent second tank - scattershot not getting so lucky this round, I score no losses!
  • Round 3 - I take out the SlipSpawn suffering no loss myself, nice to have some decent damage focussed on the front!
  • Round 4 - I take out the Pelacor, then lose my Caladum, but he's done his job, then take down the elven defender!
  • Round 5 - I take out that damned Unicorn, which is nice given that nasty Void debuff and all my magic attacks!
  • Round 6 - it's all over, the rest of my opponent's line up falls pretty quickly!

How important was The Djinn?

He did his bit in an impressive line up, which is saying something when I've got 4 Legendaries in the deck!

However, overall it's tough to make an assessment on the basis of this battle because Scattershot means I was a bit all over the place, and I was probably never going to lose given that I had a lot more health and damage than my opponent did!

Final Thoughts: Djinn Apprentice - worth buying?

I'm going to say yes - this card is pretty basic, but cheap and at max level you get a massive 4 magic damage and OK heath...

And while I'm not too impressed by Deathblow, it's still a bonus!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

Sort:

The BOT's like this card, I generally take that as 'Good at L1'. Deathblow is a situational ability, not a favourite of mine.

'situational' is a good way of describing it yeah it's much weaker!

Nice battle. I hate using fire teams.
