The theme for the current "Share Your Battle" challenge is Venari Spellsmith, but I hardly use that card so I thought of sharing something different. Lately, I have been hearing players commenting that Splinterlands are harder, the rentals are getting more expensive, etc.
Well, I don't consider myself as a strong player but I thought it would be useful to share this perspective of mine that sometimes, you don't need all the high level cards to survive, for my case, in Silver League.
Let's take a look at this battle, where a deck of Level 1 cards led by Brighton Bloom took out a max level deck in Silver League.
Here's the Lore section for Brighton Bloom for reading interest:
Brighton was an eccentric young man of Shimmer City, the capital of Khymeria. He was always seen as a strange character among the Khymian summoners. In the best times, his peers thought he was simply a distraction from their important studies. In the worst times, his fellow summoners doubted and belittled Brighton’s abilities. They were also put off by the way birds always landed on his hands and shoulders. After just two years studying at the Shimmer summoning school, Brighton decided to leave Khymeria. His loyalty was available to the highest bidder, and that is where the Dragons came in.
The Gloridax cared not for Brighton’s strange idiosyncrasies; what mattered to them was his skills as a summoner. Furthermore, in Gloridax eyes oneness with birds has long been considered a sign of divinity. Brighton’s attraction to birds was quickly noticed by Suam Khepri, Empress of the United Gloridax, who assigned a team of aerial sorcerers to properly train the young man. When Brighton emerged from that training, he could grant the power of flight to any monster under his summoning control.
Battle Type & Team Lineup
Position | Card | Notes |
---|---|---|
Summoner | Brighton Bloom | The most important summoner for a Earthquake battle and it still puzzles to this day why not many players are using it. |
1 | Diemonshark | Strong tank for a Water lineup as always, I went for speed so I picked this ahead of Djinn Chwala. |
2 | Wave Runner | Mana's not really a luxury here and I have to sacrifice one card to keep the core Water team in the lineup. So Wave Runner fits in okay, and I couldn't pick Nerissa Tridawn. |
3 | Djinn Oshannus | It is still one of the best Legendary cards even though I started using him since last year! High speed, high HP, decent magic damage and Void ability, what more can you ask more? |
4 | Deeplurker | One of the strongest Common cards in the Chaos Legion edition and its Opportunity ability haunts the healers in the opposing backline. |
5 | Axemaster | Water has many Ranged cards but after experimenting with a few of them, Axemaster does the job best with double attacks. With his high speed, misses are unlikely. |
6 | Water Elemental | A reliable backline because of its self healing ability. Usually able to neutralise Sneak attacks. |
- Pre Battle: Just pause for a moment to compare the level of cards between my lineup versus my opponent's lineup. A full Level 1 lineup for mine and a max Level lineup for Silver League. I was expecting go home empty but given that this is an Earthquake battle, having Brighton Bloom offered a glimpse of hope.
- Round 1: No surprises from a max Level team on the opposite side as my tanky Diemonshark was taken out within 1 round. Fortunately, I cleared their tank and it's down to 5 v 5.
- Round 2: My Wave Runner went down within 1 hit even though it has 4 HP. Fortunately, Earthquake came and tilted the battle to my advantage. It's 4 vs 3 now.
- Round 3: My Water cards continued to strike at Lava Launcher (which wasn't easily to take out) and we were almost done!
- Round 4: And victory!

Post Battle
Did my strategy work? Sometimes I don't know how I do it with all these big wins, but if it works, I will continue to put up these lineup combinations.
Do I like Brighton Bloom? Yes definitely! A must-have Summoner for Earthquake battles and it allows me to pick my strongest lineup without worrying about filtering for Flying ards.
Final thoughts? Sometimes it's not all about having high levelled cards. Even cards at Level 1 are still able to cause an upset if they are used well.
So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!
As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
